The farmhouse is set on the edge of the National Forest Area and provides many country lanes and wooded areas to explore by car, cycle or foot. We are situated just off the main road at the end of a quiet lane. There is no passing traffic and plenty of space for children to play safely. Several historic towns are within a short drive. Le Mans, Alencon, Laval, Lassey Les Chateaux are all less than 1 hour away.
Within 20 mins there is a man made beach with lake providing all water sports facilities, lakeside bars/cafes, picnic areas, walks and cycle paths. for the less enthusiastic the spa town of Bagnols de L'Orne with its golf course and casino is close by.

The Loire Valley / Mayenne region
The property is situated on the Mayenne, Orne and Sarthe borders. It is ideally situated for exploring all three regions. A varied seasonal climate results in breathtaking countryside and fantastic riverside settings. The gite is situated on the edge of the National Park with peaceful forest walks, cycle paths and country lanes to explore. Locally there are many historic towns worth visiting.
For race enthusiasts the famous track and museum at Le Mans is only 45 mins away . While the spa town of Bagnoles de L'Orne with its lovely lake, specialist shops, superb resaurants and of course a Casino is only 25 mins drive.
Only 20 mins away there is a man made beach with lake where most watersports activites are available.
Villaines la Juhel area
LOCAL ATTRACTIONS
Villanes La Juhel: A friendly picturesque market town with several restaurants, bars, cafes and many small shops. There is a market ever Monday morning in the town square which is a lovely event for sitting and watching French life. (10 mins)
Mayenne: A larger riverside town which boasts the oldest castle in Europe. Nearby is the town of Fontaine Daniel which is famous for its fabric making. (15 mins)
Le Mans : Famous for motor sports. There are many events throughout the year including the 24 Hour Le Mans race, motor cycling events and many more. The town itself has many wonderful buildings and is well worth a visit. (45 mins)
Bagnols De L'Orne: A local spa town with a large lake, golf course, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and typical specialist French shops. There are pedalos available on the lake and quiet picturesque walks around it. Street cafes, fabulous restaurants and of course a casino can all be found here. (20 mins)
Sille le Guillaume: A large lake where many water sports are available. There is also a man made beach for that day at the sea side . The lake has several snack bars and restaurants in the surrounding woodland. Forest walks, cycle paths and picnic areas can all be found here. (20 mins)
Alencon: The county town of Orne, centre of the lace making trade with a lace museum. A castle with grounds to explore, plenty of good shops and quaint streets. (30 mins)
Lassay Les Chateaux: A old fashioned small town with large Chateau which is open most days. Walks around the area include all three chateaux and the lovely rose gardens. (15 mins)
St Leonard des Bois: A quaint village with lovely riverside walks and beautiful old church. Close by is St Ceneri de Gerel where artists often open their studios and is said to be one of the prettiest villages in France. (15 mins)
How to get there
Travel by ferry to Caen, St Malo or Le Harve which are all apprx 2 hrs drive form the gite. Flights are available to Rennes which is 1 hr drive. Dinard, Nantes, Tours airports are all apprx 2 hrs away.

Further details indoors: The farmhouse has 2 en suite bedrooms, large dining kitchen and separate lounge with double futon The lounge and kitchen both have log fire for those chilly evenings. However electric wall heaters are fitted. The kitchen is fully equipped with oven, five burner gas hob and fridge/freezer. Laundry facilities are available on site. There is a double futon in the lounge to sleep an extra 2 people. English TV is installed, CD player and DVD.
For additional accommodation the gite is available.
Further details outdoors: The farmhouse is set in 1.5 acres of private land. Ideal for a tranquil holiday or children to play. The house faces south so gets plenty of sun and is not overlooked.

A deposit of £50 is required with the balance being paid 28 days before arrival. A refundble security deposit of £100 is required on arrival.
