About the home

With 3 bedrooms and spectacular mountain views from the garden and surrounding meadow, this newly renovated, atmospheric old house is suitable for a large family or group of friends.

There is an acre of meadow at the back of the house, from where you can enjoy swimming in a fine 10x4 metre pool which has a large solarium and a fantastic view of the local mountain. At the foot of the meadow, under an impressive cedar tree, there is a tree house which can be enjoyed by children or adults alike.

The house is well equipped and comfortably furnished, with traditional chestnut beamed ceilings and tiled floors. Upstairs the house has a double and two twin bedrooms, stone stairs and a large lounge with terracotta flooring, beamed ceiling and open fireplace. A glass door leads onto the balcony.

Downstairs there is a large modern fully equipped kitchen with dining area leading on to a fine patio. There are 2 large shower/bathrooms one which has a glass door on to the balcony.

The large sun patio and garden to the front of the house has outdoor furniture and is shaded, in part, by fruit trees.
The house is situated off the rural road to the village of Pianacci at the end of a private lane.

There is an open outlook towards three other villages and the Pania di Corfino Mountain. This is the only Alpine mountain in the Appenine range and is also famous for the Orrichiella National Park.

The area is well known for its excellent value restaurants, using the best of local ingredients. A typical set lunch with 4 choices of pasta course, and 4 choices of main course costs only 9 Euros inclusive of bread, wine and coffee. It is possible to have a multi-course traditional Sunday lunch or dinner with ample wine, coffee and liquors for less than 25 Euros.


Local market town with good shops is only 4 miles away.

“Stunning house with stunning views” This house is a fabulous place to stay with friends and would be equally pleasant for a family. It is very comfortably appointed and the furniture and bedding are of a high quality. The views from the patio are stunning and the villa is set amongst the green and verdant Apennine mountains, with villages precariously pitched on the mountainsides. It is a marvellously tranquil setting and you are really in the heart of Tuscany away from tourists, and from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There is a sense of privacy as there are no other families or people living close by. The pool is for sole use of those staying in the house and is cleaned twice a week. The local walks are hilly and sometimes challenging but the views from the mountains are well worth the effort; a car is needed for longer journeys as there are only a few local buses and nearest railway station is half an hour's drive away at Castelnuovo di Garfignana. Visiting local villages and Castelnuovo itself is a delight. Barga is a beautiful medieval walled town and is well worth a visit with its strong connections to Scotland ( Italians emigrated from the area to Scotland last century). Lucca too is fabulous, much bigger and more populated and the famous old medieval town is amazing. For the most part however, we just stayed within the area, walking and eating lovely food at local restaurants in nearby Castiglione or cooking meals with fabulous Tuscan produce and drinking local wine! This is the loveliest of houses in the most wonderfully private setting but with expansive panoramic views that are breath taking. I couldn't fault it and will certainly be going back.

“Nice property, impressive view, perfect swimming pool, reliable internet” We really liked our two-week stay at Casa Natalina. The house is situated in a quiet environment, and you really live in Italy without seeing tourists every day. The swimming pool is cleaned twice a week, and has beautifull views. Our children (7 and 10) loved picking and eating figs in the garden. WiFi was fast and reliable, so you can be online and connected to the world if you like. The TV had about 70 channels, although all in Italian, but we did not miss watching TV at all. We all slept very well in the good and clean beds. The owner provides the house with a lot of towels, so there is no need to bring your own. The house is large enough for 6 people (we were 4). The weather in July 2012 was excellent to swim each day for many hours. We visisted Corfina, Barga, Pisa, Lucca and Forte dei Marmi (at sea) and went to Orecchiella park and Fortress of the Verrucole. The museum in Pellegrino in Alpe was unexpectedly nice. You can have very cheap lunch between 13:00 and 16:00 at many restaurants (most of them within 15 to 30 minutes drive from Villa Collemandina). Best restaurant was Bonnini's with excellent food, good wine, friendly service (looked spottless and completely renovated in 2012). The high season price of the Casa Natalina property would have been acceptable, if it would have been clean - and newly renovated as the web site implies. But we think it is a little overpriced; the overall cleanliness was average and there were many small things that needed maintenance (it looks like the renovation had been some years ago now). Need to know for future visitors: the house is one of three connected houses and not detached, you cannot see or read this on the website (the left and yellow one of hour photos). The immediately attached house is for sale at the moment and unhabited with an occasional visit of a real estate agent, the third one at the other end is uninhabited and in bad repair. We experienced much privacy at the property, at the swimming pool and in the garden, but would both attached house be inhabited, this could have been completely otherwise. Contact the owner about the status of the other properties if you would like to rent Casa Nataline in 2013 and privacy is important. Regards, Marcel (the Netherlands
