The Algarve / Central Algarve region


The Algarve stretches across the whole of southern Portugal and is extremely popular as a tourist destination. The local currency here is the Euro and the main international airport is Faro. Best known for its red rocky alcoves and white sandy beaches, the coastline here stretches for over 150 kilometres, right from the countries most westerly tip to the Spanish border in the east.
Golf and various water sports are probably the most popular activities participated here, mainly due to the regions good climate. Average daily temperature range from 17ºC in winter to around 30ºC during the summer months and throughout the area there are a plethora of interesting places to visit and thing to do.
The Vilamoura / Millenium Golf area
The picturesque town of Vilamoura is one of the Algarve’s most popular beauty spots – a truly idyllic town that has much to offer it's international clientele. And since Vilamoura is centred around a large, vibrant marina, where many cafes, bars, shops and restaurants, bask in glorious year-long sunshine, you’ll never need to go far to find entertainment.
Of course the less energetic, will prefer to be pampered in one of the many sensuous spa’s, or instead choose to soak up the local culture, with a stroll around the historic Old Village and the archaeological museum, Cerro da Villa.
But most, come simply to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime experience of playing golf, at one of the five championship courses. Three of which, are just walking distance from the apartment. (Oceanico's Victoria, Millennium and Laguna). Within a 15 minute drive of the apartment there are 14 fabulous courses you can play and many rank among the best in Europe.
However, Vilamoura is much more than just a golf fan’s dream. Popular with families, the town boasts many activities including, various water sports, lawn bowls, tennis, horse riding and cycling and for avid bird watchers, the trails through the Rio Formosa nature reserve are superb.
Those wishing to sample sailing excursions and dolphin cruises can book day’s out locally in the marina and if you like to feel the sand between your toes, you’ll be spoilt for choice here. As the white, sandy beaches that span the region have all been awarded Blue flag status for cleanliness. So kick back, on Vilamoura’s tranquil, Praia da Falesia beach, there’s no better place to top up your tan, or take a dip in the crystal clear sea!
So, thats your days sorted, but save some energy for the evenings too, as they are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. At night, the marina becomes a hive of entertainment and here you can absorb the vibrant atmosphere, from one of the many cosmopolitan bars and restaurants or alternatively take in one of the latest stage shows at the glitzy international casino. However, if all you want to do is just relax, then settle down in front of the big screen and enjoy a blockbuster movie, in Vilamoura’s cosy English-speaking cinema.

The apartment at Monte Laguna is 150 metres from the entrance to the Millennium and Laguna golf course in the heart of Vilamoura. By car it is just 20 kilometres from Faro international airport and takes just 20 minutes to drive. From the United Kingdom, direct flights can be booked from various departure city's and BA, Monarch, Easy Jet, BMI Baby, Fly Be and Thomson all service Faro directly (although some of these airlines only operate seasonally). Whilst we would recommend you get a hire car at the airport (all of the usual hire care companies are based here), a taxi to the apartment from Faro airport should cost between 20-40 euros.

My brother and I stayed at Monte Laguna in July and what a 5* place it was!!! The apartment certainly lived up the the photographs and we both found it to be comfortable, clean and more to the point luxurious. Vilamoura is a great place to stay with lots to do, some great restaurants and it is not far to and from the airport. Also a good base if you want to go further afield. We would definitely go back to the beautiful apartment and to Vilamoura.
So its definitely a 10 out of 10 for us.

Golden Property is a beautiful retreat for anyone wishing to escape from it all or equally anyone wishing to enjoy a family holiday, with beautiful beaches and Marina near by, not to mention the fantastic on-site swimming pool. The apartment was recommended by a friend and we’re so glad we went! When they said golf was close, they weren’t kidding. Three great courses within walking distance and the first time I’ve played golf in short sleeves, during December! The marina is fantastic and there are lots of places to eat and drink. The apartment had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and very well furnished.

To book, a non-refundable 25% deposit is required. This will secure your dates and the full amount will be due, one month before you travel.
At this time, we will also ask you for an extra £150 as a security deposit. This is to guard against damage and the loss of the keys. Once the cleaners have checked the property over and the keys have been returned, this £150 will be fully refunded.
