The area of pera which is only a five minute drive away has a sand festival held every year and sand artists from all over the world take part it opens every june and closes in the october. Vilamoura has roman ruins that you can visit just by the marina and also a market is held every tuesday for those little gifts to take home. Vilamoura has over a dozen championship golf courses to use during your stay and a beautiful beach for sun bathing or water sports.The village of olhos de agua has horse riding stables just a 10 minute drive away.
