The Algarve / Central Algarve region

Guaranteed hot summers make the Algarve a really great destination for holiday makers. Food and wine very inexpensive and great quality. The Portugese are lovely, friendly people that love tourists and families.


Vilamoura / Villamoura Old Village area

The Old Village is a pleasant twenty minutes walk from the cosmopolitan Vilamoura marina. There are also reliable taxis, and a road train which stops at the Old Village. The marina contains a multitude of shops, bars, and restaurants. On each side of the marina there are two delightful extensive beaches. Generally Vilamoura is a quiet, classy residential/tourist/golfing area and tends not to be too commercialised or hectic.

This upmarket resort and marina is one of the largest in Europe. Either side of the marina, are the two large golden sandy beaches which offer a variety of water sports. This established resort is stylish and welcoming with lots of designer shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, and some night clubs, plus an international casino. Vilamoura is 20 minutes from Faro airport and fairly central to the Algarve, so hiring a car or taking a bus will easily allow you to discover other areas along the coast or into the hills. Transport in the resort is good with reliable taxis, plus a road train to see the local sights. The resort is synonimous with golf as there are six quality courses within 10 minutes. Perfect for a relaxed and fun holiday.


How to get there

For booking flights try main airlines i.e. Easyjet, Monach or alternatively www.Skyscanners.com
From Ireland Ryanair and Aer Lingus and Tap Airlines.
From the airport carhire is advised and can be arranged at the same time via your airline or hire a car at Faro Airport or look at www.economycarhire.com or www.rentalcargroup.com or www.autoseason.com.
Taxis are available from the airport and nearly all Portugese cab drivers are able to communicate in English and you will find fares much cheaper than in the UK & Ireland.
If driving from the airport take route 125 west along the Algarve coastline go past Quartiera and Villa Sol, look out for Av. Villamoura on left by traffic lights. Drive down as far as 5th roundabout then turn left into Caminho Torre de Agua then drive straight until you reach t junction with Rua do Brasil turn right and look out for Rua do Panama on the left.

This is a huge 3 bed, 2 bath townhouse style apt with air conditioning.There are 3 large double rooms (two with twin beds, one en suite). There is another large family bathroom. There are 2 huge balconies that you can relax and enjoy a glass of wine on and a large 350sqft terrace on top of the property set up with a BBQ and sink so you can have your evening meal up enjoying the sea and golf views. The living room is very large and comfortable, the Plasma TV gets lots of channels in every language and there is a DVD player. It also has a working fireplace and the sitting room is just off the kitchen. The kitchen is a good size and it is fully stocked with appliances (washing machine, etc). The apt has BBC, UTV (25 English Channels) and lots of other channels. The complex has CCTV in all locations and 24hr security. It is a very safe place for families.

There are three swimming pools in the Old Village accessible by a swipe card that you will be given with your keys.
Parking is available throughout the village without cost.
