Home description

We offer real comfort in our newly built home in the countryside. Each bedroom has a large en suite shower room, and the lounge invites you to spend any amount of time listening to music, watching TV, reading or even snoozing. We have two terraces, one of which lends itself to relaxing on sun loungers, both with views to mountains & Vilafames on the hillside. The highest mountain in this region, 'Penygolosa' can easily be seen from our home. We are situated in the peaceful countryside with easy road access. From our front gate a number of outdoor activities can take place such as walking, jogging, mountain biking & bird watching.
.The bustling city of Castellon is only a 30 minute drive away providing a massive range of interesting, individual shops, restaurants & historical architecture.
Vilafames, a village of amazing character also houses the Museum of Contempary Art & several bars & restaurants. A place you could easily meander around for an enjoyable day out.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Costa del Azahar region

The Costa del Azahar is one of the last remaining areas undiscovered by British holidaymakers. Beside sandy white beaches & fragrant orange groves the Costa del Azahar offers a pleasant climate, breathtaking countryside (both coast & mountains) & delicious local cuisine.
The province has the highest proportion of land protected in Parks & Nature Reserves in Spain. In short this is an attractive, very Spanish area with plenty of things to do.
One hour north of this region is the Ebre delta, a world heritage site where there is an abundance of bird life & provides great opportunities for cycling for the whole family. Bikes can be rented.
A 45 minute drive can take you to some Bronze Age cave paintings, also a beautiful area for walking.

Vilafames area

We are only 1km from the peaceful, picturesque mountain village of narrow, corkscrewing, cobbled streets & houses edged in chunky red stone. Around every corner of meandering, medieval thoroughfares you'll be amazed at what you find at Vilafames. Explore the castle, church & our regions important Museum of Contempary Art. Our main Fiesta is held in August.
Borriol Golf course is a 20 min drive from our home.
In our area we have a wide variety of things to do & see. One hour south is the beautiful city of Valencia with its world famous Science Museum & Marine Wildlife Centre, plus many historical buildings in the old part of the city.
For the motor sport fan, there is circuit Recado Tormo where winter testing is carried out by all major Formula 1 teams & winter testing by MotoGP teams.
The highest mountain in this region is called 'Penygolosa'; a challenge for those who enjoy walking. The drive will take approx: 1 hour.
At Benicassim there is a lovely 8 km long Blue Flag sandy beach, where families can bathe safely, & the town offers an abundance of cafes, bars & restaurants. In the summer months of July & August the fun Water Park is open for an excitng day out. There is also Go Carting, & every year the International Benicassim Music Festival takes place.
We are also only a 45 minute drive from the holiday resort of Alcossebre which has a lovely coastline, shops, bars & restaurants. Only a short diistance north of Alcossebre is the town of Peniscola where the film 'El Cid' was shot; a walk around the old, coastal town is truely magical.
Inland there are 4 National Parks & many beautiful, ancient Spanish villages & ruined castles of which we can direct you to.

How to get there

Budget airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet & others fly to Valencia, Reus & Barcelona. Valencia airport is the nearest, the drive being approx: 1 hr.
Reus airport is 2 hrs away.

The AP7 motorway (toll) is 15 Kms from our house. Maps will be provided.
Car hire can be arranged through these airlines. Solmar is a reasonably priced car hire company & can be found on the internet.

Ferries from Southampton & Portsmouth dock at Santandar/Bilbao

The property stands in 3 acres of predominately almond trees, cherry & plum trees, newly built in 2006 incorporating modern, comfortable living accommodation. We provide all day tea & coffee making facilities from the lounge together with constant cold water. For hot-weather days & nights we have had ceiling fans installed in every room. During the cooler evenings we light a very welcoming wood burning stove in the lounge.
Every window in the house has an anti-mosquito screen.

Further details outdoors:
Our beautiful garden looks out over the almond grove, the blossom of which can be seen in all its glory in February /March. Then the cherry blossom follows, allowing us to pick cherries in May; plums appear in July.
A good selection of garden furniture is available for your use. A table & chairs on the terrace where you may have your breakfast, deckchairs & table with umberella around the pool, & sun loungers.
Within the security of our home & garden there is a carport.

The pool is only open during the summer.
Smoking is not permitted in the house but we're happy for you to smoke anywhere outside.

Conditions

A 25% booking fee is required six weeks prior to arrival to secure your accommodation.
