Maio is a tranquil and unspoilt island with vast white sandy beaches and friendly local people. 'Summer Breeze' is situated on the edge of Vila do Maio, a small town with a traditional central church. Within easy walking distance are a number of restaurants serving various dishes, the best being the fish freshly caught by local fishermen.
The villa itself is detached and has two bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room. There is a large open-plan living and dining area with kitchen and separate utility room. The property is light and airy with a large terrace and private garden boasting banana, papaya, lemon and palm trees.

The Maio region

The Archipelago of Cape Verde is located in the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 450km off the coast of Senegal, West Africa. The climate is tropical and dry with average temperatures of 25 degrees year round. The cooling sea breezes ensure it still remains pleasant to explore the islands, of which there are 10. Each island is unique making it an excellent place for island hopping. Santiago is the largest island and houses the capital, Praia. The most popular island with tourists is Sal, due to its excellent diving and surfing facilities. Maio has the most beautiful beaches in Cape Verde and is still almost untouched by tourism - a perfect place to relax after visiting the busier islands.

Vila do Maio area

The small town of Vila do Maio is the capital and the main port of Maio. It runs alongside one of the longest beaches in the Archipelago. Fresh fish can be bought from the locals down at the beach. Fishing is possible from the pier and trips can be arranged from one of the hotels. There is a great Italian restaurant in the town serving fantastic pizzas and pasta. Various other bars and restaurants are closeby.
Approximately 3 miles from the capital is the small town of Morro which is extremely picturesque and has many beautiful coconut palms.
Jeep safaris can be arranged for trips around the island.

How to get there

Fly to the international airports on Sal or Santiago - TAP Air Portugal operate flights from London via Lisbon.
