The Loft is a fantastic upper floor apartment with high ceilings and lots of light. In its design, we combined all our favourite features from the other gites at Le Moulin de Launay. (btw there isn't another gite beneath the Loft)

The Loft is found in the beautiful tranquil countryside surrounding Vieux-Viel.

Vieux-Viel Village

Our quaint village is only a short stroll away along the pretty lanes that run through the rolling countryside. The village has a small bar and opposite you can buy eggs and milk from Janine at her farm - 20 minutes walk.

Trans La Foret

Great boulangerie and the beautiful Ville Cartier forest with its lakeside restaurant, parcour (climbing trees on wires) boating lake, pony rides and kids adventure playground - 25 minutes walk.

Pleine Fougeres

Our nearest town, with well stocked corner shop, two boulangeries, post office, butcher's shop, banks, cafes and a restaurant. Also the 200 year old preserved public laundry worth a visit! Only a 20 minute walk.

Combourg

Picturesque market town famous for its stunning fairytale chateau and lake. Plenty of shops and restaurants - 20 minutes by car.

Dol-de-Bretagne

Another lovely historic market town with delightful cobbled streets,cathedral, stacks of restaurants, bars and shops and an indoor swimming pool - 20 minutes by car.

Mont Dol

Picturesque village upon a hill. Climb or drive to the top for unbeatable panoramic views of this part of Brittany. Take a picnic or enjoy a glass of wine or meal at the restaurant - 25 minutes by car.

Cancale

Gorgeous coastal town and seafood capital, some say of the world! Just 40 minutes by car. Explore the great sandy coves nearby and find your own private beach, even in August!

Dinan

Must see medieval gem! This is the best preserved medieval town in France, brimming with restaurants, bars and pretty shops. Take the time to go on a river boat ride along the river Rance. A wonderful place to spend a full day - 40 minutes by car.

Dinard

The centre of 1930's beach side glamour and still a place to see and be seen. Great beach, superb restaurants and bars - 45 minutes by car.

Rennes

Capital of Brittany, beautiful historic town with literally hundreds of restaurants and bars and shopping to die for - 50 minutes by car. Make sure you park in the old town at Hoche or Les Lices.

St. Malo

Stunning walled city with a beaches! Great shopping and food. Make sure you get an ice cream - 45 minutes by car.

Le Mont St Michel

Breathtakingly beautiful abbey and town with lots to eat and drink.

Pontorson

In Normandy but just 15 minutes by car. Big town great for restaurants, bars and supermarkets. Market Day is Wednesday -15 minutes by car.

Vitre

Historical town with stunning architecture - 40 minutes by car.

Fougeres

Again another day out to see this beautiful city - 45 minutes by car.

Granville

Famous beaches and great food - 40 minutes by car.

St James

The American Cemetery - 35 minutes by car.

Avranches

Pretty Normandy market town with lovely shopping and eating spots - 25 minutes by car.

From casual pavement cafes to superb Michelin starred world class restaurant. For traditional Breton fayre, try Sarrasin gallettes.and a mug of local cider. Jean Marc and Lawrence are the proud owners of our nearest restaurant which provides casual food in a casual atmosphere. A favourite restaurant with many of our visitiors is La Cour Verte where you can watch as your choice of local meat is roasted on an open fire . Non meat loving options are available too! For seafood lovers Cancale is a must. The pretty coastal town is dedicated to fabulous restaurants selling the very best seafood in the world..

Markets

Markets are still a hugely popular way to shop in France and the quality of the produce is superb. Get a true taste of local life hustle and bustle, discover scrumptious cheeses and salads, taste the local produce or take the weight off your feet and enjoy a coffee and a croissant whilst people watching,

Antiques/Depot Ventes

Find a really original souvenir to take home. Rooting around a depot vente or antique shop gives you an insight into other people's lives with the added bonus of being able to take something back with you..

Sand and Sea

We're an easy drive away from Brittany and Normandy beaches, with sparkling clear waters and golden sands that stretch for miles.

Sand Yachting

Close by on the flat sands of Cherieux, you'll find top class sand-yachting.

Riding

From pony rides for tiny tots to superb adult treks out across the Bay of Le Mont St Michel or take a canter across the sands at sunset Mont St Michel glittering on the horizon as hooves chase the waves.

Cycling

Exploring Brittany by bicycle is just lovely. The speed of travel really suits the tranquil environment and gives you chance to see things that you could otherwise miss. No need to bring your own as we hire bikes.

Food

Picking up something different from a market stall or local shop is great fun. Our kitchens are well equipped, so you can enjoy preparing delicious meals at home while on your holiday.

Chateaux

No visit to France is complete without a trip to one of the stunning chateaux and there are plenty around to explore. Combourg is the most famous in the area and has a lovely lawns for picnicing.

Wildlife

Watch out for deer running through the nearby fields.You might spot foxes and even wild boar!

Bird Watching

The unspoiled rural location is wonderful for bird watching. You don't even need to leave the garden to see buzzards, kestrels and even barn owls.

Zoos

The local zoos are fun for all the family, with picnic areas and play areas for the kids. The Eco Musee in Rennes has a great selection of rare breed Breton animals and often has talks about local farming which are fun and interesting.

Aquarium

St Malo aquarium is one of the best aquariums in Europe. You can sing in a yellow submarine and watch in awe as a shark swims over your head.

Stately Homes

Share in the wealth and magic of one of the stately homes in the area. La Bourbonsais is a favourite of ours.

Alligator World

A great collection of reptiles and a superb hands-on experience with enormous tortoises

Museums

Grab some culture and learn about the history of the area. The medieval museum in Dol de Bretagne has great displays.

Walks

The area is perfect for walking. The Ville Cartier forest is truly magical and gentle meandering along the pretty country lanes is a delightful experience.

Fishing

A popular sport in the area, passes can be bought at the tackle shop in Pontorson. Carp seem to be a favourite.

Golf

The area is renowned for the golf courses. Our nearest is at Les Ormes. Kids can play by the pool or play crazy golf, mum can relax with a cocktail in the sun, while dad heads off for a round.

Whatever it is that you love doing on holiday, you're pretty sure to find it nearby.

When you arrive you'll be given a visitor's pack crammed with up to date information about the area and all the stuff there is to do here, and whether it's a reservation for a romantic dinner for two at a great restaurant, directions to the best out of the way sandy coves, or a list of feeding times for our chickens, your nearby hosts will be happy to help.

Or why not just stay here at Le Moulin and enjoy a relaxing day in our tranquil gardens. Have a BBQ or cool off in your own splash pool. We also have bike hire if you want to venture out into the lovely countryside.
