Home description
This gorgeous villa benefits from fine views over open countryside, and yet lies less than 4km from the market town of Vidauban. This has shops, restaurants and cafés, of which several are on the traditional central square with outdoor terraces.
In particular, we suggest an excursion through the wild beauty of the cork oak forests of the Massif des Maures to visit the Chartreuse de la Verne, or the valley of the River Argens to visit the Abbaye du Thoronet or the Gorges du Verdon further inland. There are also many excellent local vineyards whose produce is sold on-site. The Côte d’Azur seaside resorts of Frejus, St Raphael, Port Grimaud, Ste Maxime and St Tropez are all within easy reach. There are five 18-hole golf courses within 30 minutes.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region
With its beautiful landscape with both mountains and sea and its sunny Mediterranean weather the Var (in Provence Cote d'Azur) is a popular holiday destination all year round.
Along its 300-km long coast, you will find some stylish seaside resorts like glitzy St Tropez and Ste Maxime, as well as some smaller but equally beautiful and charming resorts like Bandol or Le Lavandou.
Monaco is just 90 min. away and you can even get to Italy within 2 hours and enjoy a lovely dinner in seaside resort town of San Remo.
Inland, you will find delightful and unspoilt hilltop villages and further to the north, the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon with its many water sports and activities. Cultural activities are also nearby with the famous Fondation Maeght in St Paul de Vence worth a visit, the artworks of Fernand Leger in the small village of Biot as well as the Musee Picasso in Antibes
Several Music Festivals take place in the region during the Summer months (Aix en Provence, Avignon, Jazz in Juan les Pins, Festival de Musique of Menton in August etc...)
The region is also a paradise for gastronomes with several Michelin starred restaurants in nearby towns, such as La Palme d'Or and Villa Des Lys in Cannes, Le Moulin de Mougins, Villa Belrose in St Tropez, Chateau du Domaine St Martin in Vence.
Lets not forget that this is also the land of Truffles - 'La Fête de La Truffe' takes place in Vidauban in February and Truffle lovers have to dine at the famous nearby restaurant 'Chez Bruno' in Lorgues.
Vidauban area
In the heart of the Var region, Vidauban, a town of about 7,500, lies above the Argens River, in the shadow of Ste. Brigitte chapel, which was built atop a former volcano. Vidauban was occupied back in the Iron Age, and Roman ruins stud the area, as do centuries-old abbeys.
Vidauban has a cinematic quality to it--literally. It's where a heartbroken Colin Firth retreated to a house near Vidauban in the 2003 romance Love Actually.
Of course, culinary pleasures spill over in Provence. But there is also fishing, kayaking and walking. And despite its pastoral tone, Vidauban isn't exactly a backwater. It is home to one of Europe's most exclusive golf clubs, the Robert Trent Jones-designed Le Prince de Provence.
Here, the lights of the Cote d'Azur seem as remote as the stars. In this idyllic part of the Var region, wild boar roam the lush forests that are home to what gourmands consider the world's finest mushrooms and truffles. The Var has 90,000 acres of vineyards, and it's the source of fruit, honey, lavender and other herbs and agricultural products.
