About the home

La Maison Bleu is a lovely family house in the centre of a 200 year old pretty and tranquil provencal hamlet. The house sleeps 7 in 3 bedrooms and has three outside terraces, the largest has a small 4 x 4 plunge pool. The house is ideally situated for exploring the Var region. The glitzy South of France is within an hours drive - nearest beach; St Maxime 30 minutes, St Tropez 45 minutes and inland beautiful villages and the stunning Gorges du Verdon. After any day trips enjoy returning to life in a real French hamlet with children playing around the central ancient water fountain.

Behind its blue door La Maison Bleu is a spacious and comfortable family home. There are three bedrooms, one with three single beds, one double, and one double master bedroom leading onto the roof terrace. The upstairs bathroom has twin basins and a walk in shower. There is a separate wc next door. On the ground floor there is a large bathroom with shower, bath and twin basins. There is a separate wc.

On the ground floor there is a well equipped kitchen with a small terrace off it which is sheltered for outside eating. The dining room has a table which seats 8. The sitting room with television, DVD and video player leads onto a good sized south facing terrace which is not overlooked.

There are three terraces, the largest adjacent to the sitting room has a small 4m x4m plunge pool, 4 sun loungers and a barbecue. Our children aged 10 and 8 love spending the day playing in the pool. It works perfectly to do a trip one day and spend the day by the small pool the next.
The terrace outside the kitchen is covered and has a Moroccan dining table and chairs.

The large west facing roof terrace adjacent to the master bedroom has a table and chairs for two and a bench. It has the sun all afternoon and is a lovely place for the evening sunset with pretty views of the hamlet and the distant mountains.

- Living Room opens onto southfacing terrace with 4m x 4m pool. Ideal for children to play in and for adults to cool off beside.
- Bedroom three opens onto its own terrace.
- Towels and linen are provided and changed at the end of each booking. For longer stays weekly cleaning and change of sheets can be arranged with an additional charge. Please bring your own beach towels. Pool checked and cleaned weekly.

- Terrace one is southfacing with a 4m x 4m metre pool, 4 sunloungers and barbecue.
- Terrace two is outside the kitchen. It is covered for sheltered outside dining. Morrocan dining table and chairs.
- Terrace three is accessed from the master bedroom. It is a large west facing terrace with table, chairs and a bench with pretty sunset views of the hamlet and distant mountains.

Not suitable for children under the age of 3. Some of the internal steps are quite steep.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region

The Var region is spectacular both along the coast and inland. The glitzy south of France is within an hour’s drive, the nearest beach Ste Maxime is 30 minutes by car. St Tropez 45 minutes, Cannes 45 minutes, Corniche des Maures 1 hour, Nice 1 hour, Theoule/La Napoule 1 hour, Cassis 1 hour, Cap Ferrat 1hour 15 minutes. Half an hour away at Hyeres you can catch a ferry for a day’s trip to Ile de Porquerolle. Virtually everywhere is within easy striking distance as the Autoroute passes close by, though not close enough to be seen or heard.

Recommended day trips include Aix en Provence with its lively Saturday market. At its heart the ‘cours Mirabeau’ is an avenue of 18th century houses and is lined with cafes and plane trees.

Nice is just an hour away —a great stretch of beaches and bars and restaurants with all the amenities and shopping of a major city just behind and the culture of its modern art gallery and many other smaller galleries too.

This area is not normally noted as one of the truly great wine regions of France but the local Rose “gris” is superb—more subtle than the bright pinks you find elsewhere; many find they drink nothing else after they’ve succumbed to its unique charms! The area is littered with chateau and there are several very good ones less than a mile from the house.

The Vidauban area

Vidauban is the local town just 5 minutes by car. It has a lovely pedestrianised central square with bars and restaurants and weekly market. Excellent selection of boulangeries and boucheries and other shops. Supermarkets are at both Vidauban and neighbouring Le Luc. Just 15 minutes away is the popular town Lorgues which has an excellent market on Tuesdays, and 25 minutes away charming Garde de Freinet, a village in the mountains on route to St Tropez, which has many restaurants and markets.

All the great South of France beaches are in easy reach by car. St Tropez 45 minutes, Nice 60 minutes, Cannes 45 minutes, Corniche des Maures 1 hour, Theoule 1 hour, Cassis 1 hour, Cap Ferrat 1hr 15minutes. The autoroute is easily accessed from the house though cannot be seen nor heard.

The house is ideally situated to enjoy the coastline, but equally the beautiful villages and countryside inland. The spectacular Gorges du Verdon is nearby with horseriding and watersports available. Also the beautiful Lac Ste Croix, and lovely villages Tourtour, Aups, Salernes, Cotignac, Bargemon and many more. Nearby Abbaye du Thoronet is stunning.
