Yelki by the Sea
B&B | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Whether looking for a romantic getaway or simply time out to unwind, Yelki will be sure to weave its magic. This historic heritage (1835) beach front cottage seamlessly blends old and new to offer wonderfully comfortable B&B or self-contained accommodation.
The cosy armchairs, wooden floors, rugs and fireplace will envelope you in their warmth, while you take in the view and ponder on thoughts of the day or lose yourself in a good book. Sit on the veranda, or lawn under the pepper tree with a glass of wine, as you enjoy the magnificent ocean vista of Wright Island and The Bluff.
You may cook in the charming well equipped kitchen and then enjoy the meal in the breakfast room overlooking the back garden with its lovely profusion of plants, flowers and birds.
With the sound and smell of the ocean and two comfortable bedrooms (1 Queen, 1 double) your sleep is sure to be deep and restful. The cottage is completed with a sparkling modern bathroom.
A few steps to the beach or pathway leading to The Bluff and on using the Heysen Trail past Petrel Cove, Kings Beach and Waitpinga cliffs; or hire a bike and follow the pathway into the town centre or along the coast to Port Elliot; further still to Goolwa and the Murray Mouth. Flagging enthusiasm could mean putting yourselves and your bikes on the Cockle train for the return trip.
Yelki by the Sea is well located, as just a short amble along the beachfront will find you at The Beach House Cafe, to enjoy delicious wood fired pizza or a curry, or go to the ever popular Yilki Store, where Ashley and Jenny essentially manage to offer the rest.

The South Australia region
Whether you want a family holiday by the sea, a wine lover's getaway or an unspoilt natural retreat, the Fleurieu Peninsula has it all. An easy one-hour drive south of Adelaide, the region has been a favourite for generations of South Australians.
The Fleurieu Peninsula has world class wine regions for you to discover. McLaren Vale has 60 cellar doors and is the closest to Adelaide. Langhorne Creek has become a major grape producer for the premium wine industry, while Currency Creek and Southern Fleurieu have some of the oldest and newest boutique wineries in South Australia.
Victor Harbor is a relaxed, seaside town that has plenty to see and do. Take the horse drawn tram to Granite Island, hop aboard the Cockle train that runs between Goolwa and Victor Harbor with a stop at Port Elliot, or check out the SA Whale and Marine Centre.
Further south, the Deep Creek Conservation Park has spectacular coastal scenery, plenty of wildlife and good bushwalking.
Another favourite spot that is not far away is Goolwa - once a busy hub for paddle steamers, it stands at the mouth of the Murray River on Lake Alexandrina where you can swim, fish, cruise, sky or take a tour into the Coorong National Park.
