Home description
The cottage, built in 1830 has been sympathetically renovated to enhance the traditional features of stone walls and beamed ceilings.
The cottage is situated on the edge of the village at the end of a small lane which leads to the Gartempe River. There are fields between the cottage and the river where some of the local residents have developed small allotments along the banks for growing produce and for access to the river. Access to the river is easiest from the recreation areas opposite. The area is therefore ideal for those seeking good walks, local river fishing, nature watching as well as just relaxing!
Typically, there are a number of small local towns where traditional French markets are held every week. A list of these can be found in the Information Folder in the cottage. Local produce can also be obtained from the larger supermarket 7 kms away, as can the usual delights such as fresh fish, meats and vegetables and of course wines and spirits. There are a number of bistros, snack bars and restaurants within easy reach providing for all tastes.
The recently renovated and simply beautiful "la Petite Maison"
The well presented and cosy living room area complete with satelite, CD/DVD, log burner and radiator

Slightly further afield, and sitting on a hilltop overlooking two rivers, Poitiers is a country town with unique charm that comes from a long and sometimes influential history following on from the seat of the Dukes of Aquitaine. This is represented in the winding lines of streets and the breadth of civic, domestic and ecclesiastical architectural fashions. Visit the Church of Notre Dame la Grande, Cathedral and Parc de Blossac and St. Hiliaire.
