The Tuscany / Firenze Province region

The regional capital of Tuscany lies on the plain of the River Arno, hemmed in between the hills that have made it justly famous. THE MUGELLO
Just a few kilometres from Florence, among the rolling hills and the tall cypress trees, standing against the backdrop of the mountain passes and crests, we find the Mugello territory. Still waters, pleasant countryside, hard-working amiable people, wholesome food, the lands of the Medici, and numerous historical estates are within your reach just beyond the gates of Florence. In the Mugello, guests can explore the native towns of the Medici, Giotto and Beato Angelico, all of whom played a part in the Italian Renaissance.

The age-old fascinating "Faentina" railroad provides a fast 35-minute ride to the centre of Florence.
The enviable geographical position makes Mugello an ideal starting point for a visit to Florence.

A short walk away is Vicchio, with shopping facilities, and where you can take the train and get to Florence in less than an hour. The same distance away are sports facilities for tennis and riding. 16 km away, in the area of Scarperia, is the fine “Poggio dei Medici” Golf Course. At a similar distance Lake Bilancino also has attractions for the sporting guest, especially sailing.

FROM FLORENCE
Take the main road (SS 302) as far as Borgo San Lorenzo. Then take SS 551 signposted Vicchio.

FROM THE NORTH
Leave the motorway A1 at the Barberino di Mugello exit; follow signs to Borgo San Lorenzo then Vicchio (SS 551)

FROM THE SOUTH
Leave the A1 motorway at the INCISA exit.
Follow signs for Dicomano then Vicchio (SS 551)

FROM VICCHIO (without going into the town of Vicchio)
Follow the signs for Ponte a Vicchio. Go over the level crossing, then immediately turn left.
Go through the traffic lights on the bridge over the Sieve (Ponte a Vicchio); turn right towards Barbiana (provincial road SP 41)

About 200 m after the bridge take the road on the left and immediately turn right.
The entrance to POGGIO A SIEVE is clearly indicated by a signboard and three cypress trees.
