About the home

PENDOLINO ROOM (2+2 beds) Pendolino was once the place in the Fattoria in which grapes were dried to make Vinsanto wine.
Today, after careful renovations, it has become a quaint and confortable room. It is 25 square meters and situated on the first floor of the Fattoria with a marvellous view of the valley. It includes a sitting room with sofa bed and a charming master bedroom with TV, a bathroom with shower and a little refrigerator.

The swimming-pool (12x6 meters) is surrounded by a large garden with a breathtaking view of the valley below with comfortable sun-beds.

The Fattoria I Ricci Agriturismo, an ancient 17th century estate situated on the lush Tuscan hills set against the backdrop of the spectacular Apennines, offers its guests the opportunity to relax in a thoroughly natural environment.

The Agriturismo is a mere 35 kilometres from Florence and easily reached by way of quaint country roads or the fascinating age old railway line. It lies only 4 kilometres from Vicchio, the birthplace of Giotto, Cimabue and Beato Angelico.

Departing from the Fattoria I Ricci it is easy to reach Siena (110 km), Pisa (130 km) and Lucca (110 km).This Agriturismo also offers the traveller an excellent position from which to explore Tuscany.

The Agriturismo is surrounded by a luxuriant park of age old trees, which includes rare exemplars, in the middle of which we find a swimming pool with a breathtaking view of the valley below. Olive groves and vineyards surround the estate and provide the extra-virgin olive oil and wine used to make meals in the Agriturismo tastier.

The Vicchio area

Mugello area offers history, culture and quality services in an enchantingly natural setting. Here you find the towns of Vicchio, San Piero a Sieve, Barberino, Scarperia and Borgo San Lorenzo.
In the above town every day there is a local market in one of the towns, and for shopping lovers.

The climate is several degrees cooler than Florence, and even in the height of summer one wears a wrap or lightweight jacket in the evening.

The Medici family, whose origins lie in Mugello, have left numerous extraordinary tracs of their power. People can discover castles, villas, convents immersed in a beautiful and austere environment where the unspoiled nature and the ancient transformations of the countryside performed by man live in perfect armony.

Mugello offers hikers an infinite number of routes to follow: excursions on foot, by bike and excursions on horseback (excellent stable is just a 4 kilometer away from us).

We are about at 20 minutes drive from Scarperia village and the International Racing Circuit of Mugello and Poggio ai Medici golf course is one of Europe's best.

The Lake Bilancino is just a 30 minutes from Vicchio and offers numerous water sports such as canoeing, sailing and windsurfing. In addition, paths for hikers and cyclists are being completed near the banks of the lake, while two beaches have already created for bathers; these offer umbrellas, beach chairs and bar service.

For people who like shopping there is "Barberino Designer Outlet", that is a unique shopping experience; just a half an hour from Vicchio, it offers more than 100 stores of fashion name selling clothing, shoes, accessories and many more.

By car: From the North: Leave the Autostrada del Sole (A1) at Barberino and then drive through the Mugello on road SS 551 to Vicchio. **Once in Vicchio follow the road to Dicomano (roughly 1.5 Km) to the crossing on the left of the road.
Follow the road to Rostolena for 4 Km and you will find yourselves at the Fattoria I Ricci.

From the South: Leave the Autostrada del Sole (A1) at Firenze Sud and drive through Pontassieve along the ss67 to Rufina and Dicomano. There follow signs for Vicchio along the ss551, which follows the course of the river Sieve. Once you reach the cimitery of Vicchio turn at the first crossing on the right direction Rostolena.
Follow the road to Rostolena for 4 Km and you will find yourselves at the Fattoria I Ricci.

Check out Ryanair flights to Pisa and to Forlì for cheap fares. BA flies to Bologna, an hour away. More than one flight a day from Gatwick to Florence with Meridiana. All major car hires represented at Tuscan airports.
