The Costa de Almeria region

Costa Almeria offers 200 miles of varied, scenic coastline that attracts tourists to its developed resorts near the main towns, but also offers idyllic spots for nature-lovers to explore. It has many unspoilt fishing villages, long sandy beaches and small intimate coves. Costa de Almeria has a sunny and mild climate, the area being on the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula on the Mediterranean Sea. Costa de Almeria offers a variety of activities including water sports, golf, hiking and scuba diving.

An undulating 18 hole, par 70 golf course of 5775 meters with manicured fairways, tees and greens where bunkers are more ornamental than threatening. Sited in a valley amongst craggy hills and spectacular scenery this course offers a fair test of play. Challenging drives & approach shots ensures all the clubs in the bag get an airing and it is noteworthy that the greens here are as excellent as the views from the clubhouse.

Beaches.

The blue flag beach at Aguadulce is only a short drive away and has a variety of shops and restaurants as well as a picturesque marina.

Natural Parks.

Cabo de Gato offers many isolated beaches and sheltered coves for the beach lover. It also offers an area of salt lakes where one can see many species of birds, some migrating ones and others resident.

Las Alpujarras are a walkers paradise, wonderful rolling landscapes of lush green valleys, spectacular gorges and waterfalls, an abundance of wildflowers and tropical fruits, and tiny white washed villages. And everywhere the reminders of Spains rich history - Moorish castles and artisan crafts, roman roads and waterways and tales of revolution and struggle.

Tabernas Desert

Discover, in the Tabernas Desert, Theme Park "Mini-Hollywood", the authentic Wild West with its shows, attractions and surprises, as well as the zoological reserve with more than 100 varieties of animals from all over the world. The park is situated on the fringe of the Tabernas desert, a two thousand square-kilometres-wide tract of land.

Along with a liberal sprinkling of gift shops in all the resorts there are also a number of new shopping malls and of course several markets to hone your bartering skills.

Sailing, windsurfing and a family friendly water park and aquarium.

Eating Out

There's a Moorish influence to the food of this region, from its Gazpacho cold soup to fried fish, fresh anchovies and locally cured ham. Start the meal with a sherry or try a sparkling 'cava' wine.

How to get there

There are a number of airlines which now fly direct to Almeria airport which is about 20 minutes drive from our apartment many of which are budget airlines such as Easyjet (Gatwick & Stansted), Ryanair (Stansted) BMI Baby (East Midlands) and Monarch (Birmingham & Manchester) book as early as possible to get the best fares. Main travel company first choice also fly direct to Almeria in the summer season (Birmingham, Gatwick, Luton and Manchester). Malaga, Murcia and Alicante airports are all about a 2 hour drive away should you have any difficulty finding flights to Almeria, however a cheaper option is to fly to Granada only 90 minutes away with direct motorway access to Almeria.

You can find taxis outside the airport main entrance. Taxis are white and when free, display a green light.

This apartment has been beautifully furnished to an exceptionally high standard. Set on two levels the front of the first floor comprises of 1 double bedroom with built in wardrobes and a twin bedroom which leads onto a terrace with sun loungers overlooking the complex . A further twin bedroom and bathroom complete the first floor. The ground floor has a fully equipped kitchen, lounge diner leading on to a terrace with table and chairs also with views of the complex. The communal pool is just 20 metres from the apartment and there is a private garage for parking with lift access to the apartment . There is also an entry phone system.
