Home description
The apartment is in a quiet zone, 100 metres far from the beach, at the 4th floor (with elevator) with a little seaview balcony and a great (40 sqmtr) dining-living room. Furthermore, three great bedrooms, two baths and a separate kitchen with laundry.
The quarter Cittą Giardino is far from the crowd, between Viareggio and Lido di Camaiore, just in front of the seafront "PASSEGGIATA" and not far from the pine forest "PINETA DI PONENTE" with its shade and coolness, children games and bicycle renthals. Lido di Camaiore and the "MARCO POLO" quarter, near the flat, are provided with bars, restaurants and shops. On the beach, bathing establishments with swimming-pools, snack-bars, restaurants and evening events (Notice - The beach is free only from oct 1st to maj 31st. In summer the access on the beach is restricted and you must pay the renthal of umbrella and deck-chairs. Anyway there is a completely free beach between Viareggio and Torre del Lago, at about 3.5 km from the apartment).

The Tuscany region
The coast between Vittoria Apuana and Torre del Lago, named VERSILIA, is the most famous seaside in Tuscany. This short stretch of coast, only 25 km, covers an area of about 160 square kilometres on the North-Western Tuscany coast. Nowadays Versilia is not only a beautiful stretch of coast but it also provides excellent opportunities to spend enjoyable holidays the whole year round.
The area is an importan base to reach major Tuscan art cities such as LUCCA (15 km) PISA (20 km) FLORENCE (80 km) SIENA and SAN GIMIGNANO, reachable in a reasonably short time. The area is also well known for safeguarding the environment with a rich diversified natural landscape comprising the majestic mountains of the Apuan Alpes (1800 mtrs), offering a magnificent backdrop to the colourful coastline and an ideal environment for trekking and mountain climbing.
To the south extends the Migliarino-SanRossore-Massaciuccoli Regional Park, offering a wide variety of habitats, from the lush coastal pine wood to the salty swamps and lake. Finally the sea-bathing tradition dates back to 1833 when Giuseppe Giannelli, a physician involved in medical hydrology, published the first study on the subject entitled "Il Manuale per i Bagni in Mare" (treatise on sea-bathing) qualifying Versilia as a beach of tradition. Construction of the original bathing establishments began in the early 1900s with boardwalks and chalets.
Viareggio area
Viareggio is the principal town of Versilia, famous for its Carnival (in february) and the beautiful seaside promenade. After the opening of the first beach resorts in the nineteenth century, those around Viareggio multiplied and some local festivals like the carnival and the literary prize contributed to the reputation of Viareggio and the Versilia.
The walk along the seafront (up to the Burlamacca canal) and the two beautiful westerly and easterly pine forests guarantee much rest and relaxation. You can reach by feet or with a bycicle every shop, coffee, cinema and restaurant.
There is also time to appreciate some historical monuments like the 16th century "MATILDE" tower, the "ALBERTO CARLO BLANC" archeological museum and the newest "MUSEO DELLA MARINERIA" offering the sealife story. Full of interest also the "SEAPORT" with fish restaurants and the world-famous shipyards "PERINI" and "BENETTI" with their yachts and sailing ships. Behind the seaport, in "VIALE EUROPA" , pubs with beer and live music (rock-blues-funky-disco) till late in the night. The nearest cultural sites are: LUCCA (15 km) PISA (20 km) and FLORENCE (80 km).
How to get there
The apartment is in a quarter named "CITTA' GIARDINO" between Viareggio and Lido di Camaiore, just in front of the seashore. It is easy to reach from the railway station VIAREGGIO (just 2 km, by citybus or taxi) or from the GALILEO GALILEI International Airport in Pisa (20 km). It is easy to reach also by car, taking the highway GENOVA-ROSIGNANO. Only 1,5 km (1 mile) from the exit VIAREGGIO.
