The property is a charming rural resort situated in the heart of the refreshing and peaceful countryside 50 km northbound from the Oporto airport. Atlantic coast line is 6 km drive and the attractive medieval riverside towns of Viana do Castelo are 20 minutes drive.
The Villa and the independent cottage within an area of 3000 m2 have an excellent solar exposure and are fully walled confining with vineyards, pine tree forest and the road. The gardened area has dozens of qualities of flowers, plants and old trees giving plenty of refreshing shadows ideal for children.
Set in lawns near the cottage there is a 12mx5m swimming-pool. Pool area with adjoining covered terrace, shower and closet. Grill, picturesque bread and roast oven and a cellar at the cottage.

This typical villa is composed by the ground and first floor. The front door opens directly into the attractively furnished living room. here sofas and armchairs are set around a panoramic (360º) fireplace. In front of you a plate glass window runs the full width of the room and gives an over view of large granitic terrace and courtyard and vines.
In the middle of the open space room there is a dining table to seat 10 just in front of the kitchen. On the first floor you have 4 bedrooms including a double bedroom with en suite facilities with jacuzzi. 2 double bedrooms and another room with 3 single beds sleeping up to 10.

The swimming pool and the BBQ area for al fresco dining set in an elevated position overlooking the lawns and the vines will provide the perfect base for a great family holidays, peaceful getaways, beach or countryside retreats, winter-sun breaks.

The Costa Verde region
To many people the Minho/Costa verde region is the most beautiful part of Portugal with its green valleys, terraced vines and wooded hills and miles of virtually unspoilt, uncrowded white sand beaches. The Atlantic coast is just 6-8km away. Many other parts of Minho are attractive to walkers (Lagoas de Estorjães - Ponte de Lima). Wine lovers will enjoy exploring the vinhos verdes light effervescent wines specially enjoyable with local varied and well tasted gastronomy.
The Viana do Castelo / Alvaraes area
A passage through the country discovering some secrets of the historical and cultural heritage with many Celtic sites, medieval castles, gothic and baroque cathedrals is a must. The medieval towns of Viana do Castelo and Ponte de Lima are 10-25km away which are famous for locally produced pottery hand crafts and unique cobble stoned historical centres. Its Gotic cathedral (1404 a.d.) and the Neo-Romanic Cathedral of Stª Luzia (Sec. XIX) worth a visit. Oporto is 35 minutes driving to explore the wine lodges and the magnificent vineyards of the river Douro.

Fly to Oporto, Santiago de Compostela or Vigo. Alvarães is quite close to the town of Viana do Castelo that is 50 km away from Oporto airport (90 km from Vigo and 120 km from Santiago airports). From there you will be in direct link to modern motorways representing 35 minutes, 60 or 90 minutes driving, respectively.
Cheap flights available with Ryanair, AirBerlin and Transavia. You would better to rent a car at the airport with one of the budget car hire companies.
