The GERAZ DO LIMA HOUSE, a holiday home to rent, was an old watermill, built in 1888 on a hill in Geraz do Lima, a village between the medieval towns of Ponte de Lima and Viana do Castelo, in the Minho area, northwest of Portugal.
GERAZ DO LIMA HOUSE, faces an amazing countryside scenery, and there are several footpaths and hiking areas around, as well as the medieval “Caminho de Santiago” (Way of St James), towards Santiago de Compostela, in Spain, that passes just outside our door.
Inside, the HOUSE has 2 floors: one with a large living room, dining room and kitchen (including a stove, oven, fridge, cutlery and kitchen utensils), and another floor with 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other with2 single beds) and a bathroom.
On the outside there is a lovely garden, with views across the surrounding countryside, in total privacy. There is also a barbecue area and a large porch with a rustic wooden table and benches for outside meals.
You can also enjoy the good food and green wine of the area, as well as experience the local traditional culture, have a game of Golf in Axis Golf Club Ponte de Lima (9 miles away), do water sports in the Lima River (7 miles) or take surf lessons on the white sandy beaches in the sea coast nearby (10 miles).

About this location
Northern Portugal region
The small village of Santa Leocadia de Geraz do Lima, in the Minho region, northwest of Portugal, has a very rich history, green wild nature, vineyards, natural parks, white sandy beaches and medieval villages still very well kept. It is famous for it's wine (vinho verde).
The Minho region begins around 40 km (25 miles) north of Porto and stretches to the frontier of Galicia (northwest Spain). Both regions, Minho and Galicia share a Celtic background. The small road that leads to CASA GERAZ DO LIMA is actually the old medieval walking path of the Way of St James (Caminho de Santiago), that brings pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, North Spain) since the 12th century.
The CASA GERAZ DO LIMA is located only 12km (7.5 miles) away from the medieval village of Ponte de Lima, with its famous Roman Bridge and very well preserved historical centre.
It´s also situated just 14km (9 miles) away from the beautifull city of Viana do Castelo, with it's medieval citycentre, famous monastery of Santa Luzia, and it's beautiful white sandy beaches.
GERAZ DO LIMA HOUSE is only 9 miles away from Axis GOLF Club in Ponte de Lima.
Viana do Castelo
The area is rich in granite stone, that was used over the centuries to build the amazing facades of the Baroque and Neoclassic churches in Braga (former roman city of Bracara Augusta) and the medieval city of Guimarães (UNESCO site), just a few km away by car.
Porto city (also a UNESCO site) is the air gateway to Minho region, where you can easily rent a car and be in Geraz do Lima within less then one hour drive.
