Les Argilliers
About the home
Les Argilliers is a farmhouse built in the 19th century and renovated in the 20th! It is a lovely old property that has been converted to a high standard .
The house combines solid country furniture in spacious rooms, with stylish touches and all modern conveniences. The light-filled lounge features an old stone fireplace, and an interesting split staircase up to a mezzanine gallery.
French windows lead from the dining room to a covered terrace, ideal for an al fresco lunch or evening barbecue. There are far reaching views from all around the house, over the pretty countryside and down to the pool.
Restoration has been carried out in keeping with the origins of the house and the adjoining barn. Walls are mainly exposed stone; there are many exposed beams; there is an original fireplace; fittings and decor are rustic; there are large glass doors at the old barn entrance.
The ground floor is laid with a terracotta tile, the stairs and galleries are hardwood, and the first floor rooms are carpeted.
There is 1700 sq ft of internal living space. There is a large kitchen, and an even larger dining room. The kitchen has everything, including a microwave and a dishwasher. The house also once had a massive bread oven, which is now the utility room, housing a washing machine.

Two of the bedrooms and one bathroom are on the first floor. One of these rooms is especially large. There is an under floor central heating system.
We have English and French video and dvd players, books and board games.
The house also contains a range of good quality wooden baby furniture including a cot, high chair and a playpen.
Further details outdoors:
Externally, there is a covered terrace and a large, paved patio.
The swimming pool is oval, 1.4m deep all-round. Safety is enhanced by a pool alarm system. There is plenty of flat ground for ball games.
There are 15 acres of undulating fields to walk around- some will have cows and calves grazing.
Further details
The house is fastidiously maintained with thorough cleaning between guests stays, twice weekly pool maintenance visits, and regular lawn mowing.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region

The Dordogne, or Perigord is divided into four regions: black perigord, purple perigord, green and white. Possibly the most visited is the Périgord Noir, the black perigord. There are beautiful rivers, pretty villages, interesting chateaux and prehistoric caves. Visit Sarlat and Domme.
Purple perigord is named after the colour of the vineyards which cover the hills. Many of the villages are"bastides" or fortified market towns. Visit Bergerac. Périgord Vert (Green) takes its name from the green forests of the area. It is a lovely unspoilt area, ideal for immersing yourself in all things French.
Périgord Blanc takes its name from the grey and white limestone present in the area. Visit Périgueux.
The Verteillac / Nanteuil Auriac de Bourzac area
We are situated in beautiful rolling countryside some of which is wooded. Champagne Fontaine is a within five minutes drive for basic shopping.
Ten minutes away is Verteillac with all amenities, and about 20 minutes drive is the market town of Riberac on the River Dronne. Riberac has a good range of shops and two large hypermarkets, restaurants, banks and a Friday market.
Perigueux, the department capital lies about 50 kilometres to the south-east and Bordeaux is about an hour and a half away by car, as is the Atlantic coast. Nearby, Brantome has two 2* Michelin Guide restaurants.
