There is so much or so little to do each day, whether within Les Gites de L'Etang or outside, enjoying any of our recommended trips and activities. Whatever your needs for the ideal holiday cottage in France, we have endeavored to create a sojourn that satisfies all, from toddlers to seniors.

Le grenier joins our cottages in the Dordogne, which have welcomed new and returning guests since 1998,and are hidden in a tranquil valley just outside the small village of Bertric Buree, 7 km from the market town of Riberac, in the beautiful Perigord Vert region of The Dordogne

Le Grenier nestles in 15 acres of stunning countryside, approached through a blaze of sunflowers. Above, a pair of buzzards keep patrol , swirling higher & higher on spiraling thermals, a watchful eye on wild life below . Hoopoes and golden auriels enjoy the woods and meadows, whilst a nightingale accompanies your night time bevy! A heron breakfasts here and a patient eye may spot a kingfisher. Overlooking our well stocked fishing lake, ( largest carp to date 22 lbs ) with a backdrop of 4 acres of woodland, where deer may pop by for refreshment, each holiday cottage benefits from its own balcony, sun terrace and barbeque, and just a 100m from the fenced and gated swimming pool, complete with sun beds, so you can enjoy its idyllic setting. For the active we offer – Table Tennis, pool, darts, petang (boules), badminton, basket ball, and tennis. You may try your hand at, fishing, (we have rods ); build a raft or perhaps a den in the woods..The location of Gites de Letang is in the French region of The Dordogne. The Dordogne is found in the South West of France. Through it's centre winds the River Dordogne, which has it's mouth to the west into the Atlantic ocean. Gites de Letang are about 1 hour away from the coastline, 4 hours from the Spanish border and 5 hours from South Coast of France on the Mediterranean Sea.

The area around Bertric Burée is rich in history with many interesting chateaux and bastide towns within easy reach. Locally there are many small river beaches where bathing is safe, and canoes or kayaks can be hired, which may be preferable to a day trip to the coast. Riberac town with its own wealth of history and beauty, offers many other facilities including banks, supermarkets, small interesting shops, a sports stadium with tennis courts and 3 swimming pools, and many inviting restaurants. Its market, every Friday morning, is the largest in Perigord and often has musicians or drama groups performing in its centre. There are local discos for the young and the bars often have musical soirees to suit most tastes, where visitors are greeted with a warm welcome.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

The location of Gites de Letang is in the French region of The Dordogne.

The Dordogne is the former province of Perigord. The four regions of Perigord are very different with "Perigord Noir" overlooking the Dordogne valley, being steeped in pre-history, including castles, rock dwellings and caves with their famous pre-historic paintings. "Perigord Blanc" has large valleys and meadows and among its many interests, is famous for its truffles. "Perigord Pourpre" which encompasses Bergerac is famous for its vast expanses of vineyards and wine production. "Perigord Vert" of which we are a part, is a true treasure trove of verdant valleys and rippling streams, landscapes which inspire painters, and infuse a cosy and friendly feeling of well being and unaltered tradition. All four regions take a pride in their cuisine, each village boasting its own specialist chef, with restaurants giving good value for money.

Gites de Letang are lucky to have such a privileged location, close to the small village of Bertic Burée.
