About the home

Village house with small patio and balcony in peaceful rural village location. Small, friendly village with one bar, and restaurant and alternate days visits by mobile shop. Superb location for touring. Main house sleeps four plus annex across patio can sleep a further two but the house is more suitably equipped for a maximum of 4. A bathroom with saniflo toilet in main house and a toilet and shower in the annexe. Log fire and electric wall heaters. Recently refurbished. You can climb the mountain from the village a great walk.

Fillols is situated on the north side of Mt Canigou (the centre of Catalan identity).

Long first floor balcony with stunning views. Small area with table and chairs for six. Small rear patio with washing line. Garage filled with logs. Parking in nearby village car park only 100 yards walk. Street narrow almost no traffic ever and very close to village square where there is often live music in the summer. Fillols have many summer festivals as well as locals art exhibitions and live entertainment in the square.

Fillols nestles under Mt Canigou midway between Andorra and the Mediterranean. Stunning mountainous area with strong Catalan identity.
The famous spa town of Vernet les Bains is a 10 minutes drive with its beautiful outdoor swimming pool, church at the top of the narrow streets with the amazing mountain backdrop.
Just up the road from Vernet is the Abbey of St Martin de Canigou high in the mountains.
Fillols is in a quiet valley just off the main road to Andorra which leads to the Hot Springs, Mt Louis, Font Romeu, Lac de Bouillouses and Les Angles wildlife park then Andorra. The Little Yellow Train "Petit Train Jaune" takes you on a scenic ride from Villefranche up towards Andorra.
Vauban's medieval fort by the walled town of Villefranche de conflent is just at the bottom of the valley adjacent to the limestone caverns "grottes de canalettes".
The Gorges de Carancas are a high level very dramatic and exciting walk for the adventurous and are conveniently not far from the superb outdoor hot springs at St Thomas les Bains.
