Home description
This property is situated in a small piazza which have been superbly restored with great attention to detail. It is a perfect base to relax and spend time exploring the Emilia Romagna with its wealth of Art, Architecture and Opera, tourists come here only in relatively tiny numbers - It is well placed for enjoying many of the most famous delights of the whole country. (There is an excellent local road and rail infrastructure making exploration painless!)
We are a 30min. drive from the main A1 auto link from Milan to Rome. It is well situated for the motorways to the lakes, Venice, Florence, La Spezia and The Cinque Terra on the Eastern Riviera. On the Apennine mountains are some lovely cities - Parma, Modena, Cremona and Bologna. Emilia Romagna and in particular this area lays claim to the best food in Italy, you can dine out every evening in a different Trattoria or Pizzeria or during the summer months attend one of the local Festa's all serving ‘Home Made’ dishes of the region.
During Summer, outdoor Opera performances are held at the local Castell of Vigoleno and Bussetto which is the home town of Giuseppe Verdi. Visit the Spa towns of Salsomaggiore and Tabiano where there are some stunning buildings and excellent swimming pools.

The Emilia Romagna region
This area has been overlooked as a tourist resort, geographically, we are inthe hub for Northern Italy. The main autoroutes lead to Milan and the Lakes, the Mediterranean at Genoa, the Adriatic at Rimini. Venice is approx. 4 hrs. drive and Verona is only 1hr 30mins. Our nearest mainline station is in Fidenza, which is approx. 30mins. drive.
In the winter months you can reach the local ski slopes in about 1hr. 30mins. just south east of Parma. Visit the Marenello Ferrari factory in Modena, this can be pre booked on the internet before your holiday.
Vernasca / Piacenza area
There are lots of Historical sites nearby, Castell Arquato, Fontenalleto and Bari these are within 30mins drive. There are swimming pools in Salsomaggiore, Castell and and large complex with 4 pools and activities for children in Tabiano.
Just outside Fidenza is The Outlet Shopping Village, also Parma is a beautiful city for culture and shopping. Activities: Horse Riding, Tennis, Swimming, Fishing , walking and cycling.
There are 2 Championship Golf courses within 30 mins. drive.

Further details indoors: The Italian owner who is an excellent cook lives nearby and will prepare some of the regional dishes to have on your return after a days sightseeing or at the local swimming pool Alternatively, visit the local markets for fresh vegs. fruit, cheese and fish and have a bar-b-cue on the patio. ~ Cot available, very safe for a young child as the property is secure. ~ Linen and Towels supplied - Clothes line outside ~ Log burning cooker + electric cooker in fully fitted kitchen ~ Windows are double glazed with fly screens ~ Longer lets - cleaning can be provided ~ Kitchen fully equipped with cooking utensils and some stable foods
Further details outdoors: There are some beautiful restored stone houses adjacant to the apartment. ~ Paved Patio area outside and a small garden to the side of the apartment for sunbathing. ~ Shaded areas to protect against strong sun ~ property is very safe, as indeed the village, it is also extremely quiet and peaceful. ~ Secure parking (for those attending the Silver Flag motor racing event a garage can be provided)
Next door is the local Fornio (breadshop) fresh bread and cakes are baked each day. There is a Bar / Trattoria 200m. from the casa where you can enjoy a cafe in the morning or an apertivo prior to dinner. To complete at the far end of the village is the church which dates back to the 18th century

Giovanna who ownes the property is Italian but speaks perfect English and lives in an adjacant stone house. She is available to help with any information that you may need. Both she and her husband are farmers and are to be seen heading for the fields or woods as dawn breaks. In the mushroom season her husband may be willing to take you into the woods in search of the funghi (IF YOU TWIST HIS ARM). Visits to local cheese factories and winery’s can be arranged.
Conditions
On booking a deposit of 25% is required 6 weeks prior to arrival. Rental in summer is Saturday to Saturday though we can be flexible where possible outside of July and August.
No smoking in the house, there is a balcony outside the master bedroom and the living room. TV is Satellite and has other European channels.Any meals provided by the owner must be paid for on the day.
