The Flexi-Gite is set in the grounds of La Joubertie which enjoys a rural location but has all the mod cons you need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. We pride ourselves on our high standards and the gite is tastefully decorated and well-equipped to meet your holiday needs.
We really feel that we have the best of both worlds here - located in the heart of the Dordogne, we have the wide open spaces and fresh air of a countryside setting but you are within easy reach of all the major tourist attractions and towns. Perfect accommodation for two people with loads of space and light and a great place for unwinding after a hard day's sight-seeing or housse hunting.
Relax over a glass of wine on your own private patio while you overlook the pool and enjoy our spacious surroundings. You may even spot a deer or two grazing on our parkland or later in the year, trying to scrump our apples! There are also plenty of walks around our property for those of you who like a bit of exercise!
We have had so many repeat visitors that we know we have something special that is also good value for money. Why not try us out for yourselves? We are sure that you will not be disappointed!

Lounge - light, airy and comfortable. Equipped with comfy armchairs, a footstool, sofa and a coffee table plus a colour TV with satellite (Sky Freeview Channels) and DVD/CD player.
A library of mostly English DVDs, books and magazines available.
Kitchen - fully equipped with a large fridge & freezer, microwave, full electric oven and gas hob with all the equipment one would need to cook a delicious meal or to prepare your lunchtime snacks.
Dining area - full sized dining table and chairs that could easily seat 8 when fully extended. Useful if hiring with La Joubertie &/or Chambre Rose as well.
Front of the gite - large BBQ pit & large table/benches for those al fresco meals.
Bedroom - very comfortable double room with en suite luxury shower room. Hairdryer & radio/alarm clock provided.
Rear Private Paved Patio - with parasol table & chairs and a BBQ made for 2!

The swimming pool is open from May to September, nicely warmed up by the lovely Dordogne sunshine!
The swimming pool has a security fence and gate conforming with French law.
English owners live discreetly on site (very happy to help with information on the area etc)
Cleaning equipment, hoover, washing up liquid, sponges, cloths, loo rolls, tea towels provided.
Smoke alarm, fire blanket and fire extinguishers provided.
Electric heaters in all rooms.
Washing machine available for occasional use by arrangement, at no charge.
Conditions
20% deposit to confirm booking.
Balance payment due 6 weeks before your stay.
£150 security deposit, refunded within 2 weeks of your departure.

There is so much to see and do in the Dordogne as it is steeped in history. See our website for lots of information on all the places to visit. Outlined below are a few ideas just to whet your appetite!
Sport
Golf courses (10 mins and 30 mins away), fishing (10 mins away) in the local “etangs” or on the rivers is plentiful and horse riding, canoeing and go-karting etc are available locally.
Food & Drink
There are lots of restaurants to choose from and we are right on the doorstep of the famous Bergerac wine region and well within reach of Bordeaux and St Emillion.
And don’t forget the wonderful French market experience! Lots of the local towns have markets on different days each week with opportunities to taste the local produce and wine.
Places of Interest
The historical towns of Perigueux (the capital of Perigord), Sarlat and Domme are easily reached from here also with loads of restaurants, shops and markets to browse around.
Les Eyzies, Rouffignac and Montignac (world famous caves of Lascaux) offer a fantastic opportunity to explore pre-history through caves, prehistoric sites and museums.
Chateaux and beautiful gardens abound – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

The Vergt area
Our nearest village is Lacropte (2kms) with a Bar Tabac/Restaurant where you can also get bread/croissants.
The market town of Vergt is 8kms from La Joubertie, less than a 10 minute drive away. The local market is on Friday which is so typical of French life selling a variety of local fresh produce and delicacies. Vergt also has 2 supermarkets plus a variety of other local shops specialising in regional produce.
Vergt is renowned as the strawberry centre of the Dordogne and has an annual strawberry fair in May which celebrates the strawberry and is a great way to witness the cultural life of the region.
There are also several restaurants in and around Vergt and there is a fishing/swimming lake only 10 mins away at Lac de Neufont which also has a swimming beach and bar/restaurant. Golf courses are within easy reach - Marterie Golf course (10 mins) and Perigueux Golf Club (30 mins).

High standard of character accommodation but with all mod cons, especially bathrooms. Beautiful pool. Great hillside location - peaceful, but with many attractions close by. What makes this rental special is the attention to detail by the hosts - every need has been anticipated in the gites and information is provided on restaurants, markets, attractions - even the weather forecast! Len and Marian were so helpful and friendly without being intrusive and gave us lots of 'insider' information that meant we really got to know the area. As a family we have stayed here three times and are planning a fourth holiday. |

We have stayed at La Joubertie six years in a row, sometimes twice in the one year, whilst we feel that may say it all we really have to add a little more! We unfortunately had to miss 2011 due to a longhaul trip and family from Oz. Firstly, Len and Marian are excellent hosts, always there when you need them but never intrusive. We have stayed in both gites and found them to be immaculate with extremely well equipped kitchens. To lie by the spotless pool in such tranquil settings or walk in the surrounding countryside is the closest we may get to heaven!! You will find excellent restaurants within easy driving distance to cater for every pallet and pocket. From a sightseeing perspective you have everything from early European cave dwellings, quaint French villages to large medieval towns and vibrant cities, again never more than a short drive away. This region of France is renowned for its lack of road traffic much like the UK was three or four decades ago. A word of caution, if you visit La Joubertie once you will, like us, definitely want to return. |

We first went to La Joubertie in 2007, it was so good that at the end of our fortnight we booked for the next year, 2008. We went back again this year 2011, we have had a difficult year and we really needed to know our holiday would be perfect again. Everything you could ever need is provided, and Marian and Len are the most helpful and friendly of hosts. The kitchen has everything you will ever need, cutlery, crockery and glassware. All the linen is supplied and is of good quality. The gite is clean and spotless and the grounds are well maintained by Len and his mower! The pool is immaculately clean and there are loungers and parasols. The back door opens onto a secluded patio with table, chairs, parasol and a barbeque just a few feet away. The whole area is secluded and quiet, and there is a lot of wildlife in the area. We sat there one hot afternoon and watched a pair of eagles patrolling the ridge on the far side of the valley. ] The Sky TV has UK channels and there is a large collection of good reading and DVDs available in the gite There are many incredible restaurants and you should ask Len or Marian for local information. The region is full of historical interest and a canoe trip on either river is recommended. In the gite you will find a comprehensive folder of local information. The local supermarkets are the equal and better than Tesco, Sainsbury and others. Hope you have a good holiday and enjoy it as much as we have. |

Special Offer- we have another double bedroom with an en-suite available that we run as an occasional B&B room. It is possible to rent Chambre Rose (sleeps 2) with the Flexi-Gite for the same price as La Joubertie Gite.
£150 refundable security deposit required with balance payment.
