From the owner

“Villa Perla del Lago” dates back to approximately 1920. It is located in a beautiful sunny position overlooking the lakeside town of Domaso, on the western shore of lake Como. It offers tourists breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding mountains and countryside.

In 2011/2012 the villa has been completely renovated and is now available (rentable) for short periods.

This recent renovation has kept and partly restored its Liberty style, with its painted ceilings, walls and antic furniture typical of the villas in this area of that period.

Only the kitchen and bathrooms have been updated with modern and practical appliances.

The villa has a 500 sq m garden, 100 sq m terrace, a marquee and wrought iron garden furniture, a barbeque, a pool (8 x 4 m), a Jacuzzi hot tub (for 6 people), sun beds and an outside shower.

Sports enthusiasts have a wide choice of water sports to choose from such as water skiing, surfing, kite surfing and sailing.

For those who prefer a more relaxing holiday “Villa Perla del Lago” is ideal just for sunbathing and enjoying the natural beauty of the surrounding scenery.

Dear David, I thank you for the review that has already partly explained what happened. Rightly, as you say, your experience has been overshadowed by what happened when you returned home, precisely because you did not communicate the damage you had procured to us when you checked out. The door frame of the bedroom was literally torn from the wall due to a blow that caused the break of the wall itself where there are the hinges and the particular "stucco" that covers it. I wish again to point out to you that the house was delivered to you in perfect conditions and has been given back to me as described above, to whom should I have blamed? Because of this I was forced to hand over to the next guests not the perfect structure that I generally deliver, but with a big damage and then to close the villa for 7 days in order to be able to restore the damage itself. If such damage had been communicated before the departure there would have been the possibility of making evaluations together and possibly calling a skilled worker together. Since I rent this structure (over 7 years) I have had hundreds of guests, but I never withheld part of the security deposit and I have never found myself in such a situation, forced to sustain considerable damage and, moreover, to close the structure with a consequent further loss. As per conditions, I provided with all the required documentation, including the invoice, to be at least partially compensated for the loss. And anyway this was only the culmination of your lack of respect for other people's property, demonstrated for example by hiding the trash bags behind the kitchen curtains, apart from the conditions in which the entire house was left. The reviews of my structure are all visible and if all the guests have always given the maximum of votes I believe that there is a reason.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Romina (the owner) a message.

If Romina (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
