The Costa de Almeria region

Garrucha - The beaches and harbours of Garrucha are within easy reach and are about ten minutes away with seafront fish restaurants displaying and serving the local catch of the day. Sea fishing from the marina is a favourite pastime of the Spanish people in the area with some great fish being caught all year round. This is a very popular area with miles of sandy beaches stretching along the coastline.
Mojacar - Mojacar is split between the hilltop village Mojacar Pueblo, and the beachfront Mojacar Playa.
The Pueblo is perched on a rocky outcrop and can be seen from a long distance as the houses are painted a brilliant white. The village has narrow, windy streets, but is a joy to walk.
Each June for 3 days, there is a Moors and Christians Festival, that celebrates the expulsion of the Moors from the region. Its is a spectacle well worth seeing. There are re-enactments of key events and the participants dress in elaborate costumes. Every year, the two groups stage mock battles urged on by the crowds and true to history, the Christians emerge victorious. This takes placed against a backdrop of music and gunpowder explosions.
Mojacar Playa winds along the coast for over 5 km with beautiful blue flag beaches and bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. Horse riding, quadbiking, and kiteboarding are just some of the many activties you will find here.
Vera - The town of Vera has a long history. It was, for a while, the border between Christian and Moorish Spain. The town is packed with traditional shops and restaurants and discovering them down the narrow streeets is one of the town's delights. The town has many fiestas, including a February carnival. Vera boasts the second oldest bullring in the Country.
Villaricos - Travelling north from Vera brings you to the small port of Villaricos. For those who prefer the quiet coves and beaches of an undeveloped coastline, this is the place for you.
Turre -This small town is off the tourist track and has a refreshing 'Spanishness'. As with most towns there are a collection of good value tapas bars. The local Go-Kart circuit is on the road to Turre and offers very good value compared to UK tracks.
Almeria - Although it is 45 to 50 minutes drive away, Almeria does have some splendid Moorish architecture and an interesting and more modern Cathedral. The dominant feature of the town is the Alcazaba fortress, built in the 10th Century by the Moors. Visiting the Alcazaba is free to EU passport holders between October and March.
Granada - Granada has one of the most dramatic locations in Spain, poised below the backdrop of the snowcapped peaks of the Sierra Nevada. The city's most striking feature is the near-The fabulous Cathedral in Murcia - The fabulous Cathederal in Murcia City is well worth a visit. You can spot it from miles away because of its 96-metre tower which houses no less than 25 bells. Construction work on the cathedral started in the mid 14th century, on the site of a Moorish mosque and lasted for another four centuries.
The city's 18th century convent church of Santa Ana is no less attractive, partly because the Sisters of the Convent's Closed Order bake cakes and sell them to the public through a revolving hatch (to avoid breaking their vow of no contact with the outside world). Al'hambra Palace. Granada has even more charms other than the Palace and is well worth the trip. Approximately a 2 hour drive .
The Vera / Valle Del Este Golf Resort area
Valle del Este is arguably the finest and most enjoyable golf course in the region. It is based on a desert style with challenging and memorable holes that you will talk about in the 19th hole as a course to remember. Designed by Jose Canales, Valle del Este was opened in 2002. The complex has a comprehensive driving range with mist to keep you cool on those hot sunny days! There is also a short game area and putting green. The pro shop is fully equipped with everything a golfer may require. Other courses nearby include: Marina de la Torre in Mojacar (10 mins), Desert Springs at Cuevas de Almanzora (25 mins), Cortijo Grande at Turre (30 mins), Aguilon Golf at Pulpi (45 Mins), La Envia at Vicar (45 Mins) , Alboran at El Toyo (45 mins), Playa Serena at Roqueta de Mar ( 1 hour) Please feel free to contact us for any advice or assistance you may require on golfing matters, Discounted green fees available at some courses .
As well as the excellent golf facilities, the Valle del Este Golf Resort offers an amazing Spa, Padel Tennis, swimming pool with children play area, and a commercial centre where you will find a cluster of bars and a restaurant, together with a bank, internet cafe, hairdressers, gift shop, newsagents and supermarket.

Just returned from 10 nights at this delightful property. Lovely modern, contemporary style with a stunning view of the 3rd green. This property has everything you need for self catering with ample storage and space. Lovely patio area for dining outside under the stars. It is situated within walking distance of the Valle del Este hotel, golf range and all amenities, it would be difficult to find another in a better location. A lovely looking development with a large pool overlooking the golf course. Would highly recommend this property and look forward to returning. |

This really is a lovely place to stay on holiday.. a real home from home! The house is spacious and comfortable and we found it just right for our teenage kids and us. The decor is contemporary with a fully fitted kitchen and up to date equipment. Only frustration is the electric hob takes an age to heat up so rather slow to fry bacon and eggs.. so just pop up to the commercial centre for a cooked breakfast instead! The beach is just 20 mins away and full of good bars and restaurants. A very good holiday! Response: Thank you ,we're really pleased you enjoyed your stay at our house. Hope we can help you again in the Spring with your golfing trip. Gaynor |
Guestbook for Agave Real
The property is right on the golf course, a joy for Jim who is a keen golfer. The house was immaculate and luxurious. A joy to behold for tired travellers!
We originally booked for 2 weeks and have extended it to 4, only moving on as its booked beyond that date.
We would recommend this home to anyone, no matter how high their standards may be.
We found the professional service we received from the owners reassuring from the start. Betty and Jim Fox
The private infinity pool in particular was fantastic, especially for the children. Darren W. Kent
Just a note to say thanks for renting the apartment to us , we had a fantastic time and the apartment was beautiful, we couldn't have wanted anything better for our holiday.
We have all come back tanned and relaxed which is just what we needed !
Thanks again Rachel, Andrew and Matthew
We really had a fantastic time at Agave Real.
We normally have a very strict "never go back" rule regarding holidays but we would certainly ignore that in the case of your apartment.
The mix between the apartment and the hotel was brilliant.
Thanks for everything.
Kind regards
Colin, Alison, Kathryn & Ryan
The holiday was most enjoyable. Your home was very comfortable and clean and just what was required to charge the batteries. You have chosen a lovely area for your second home. Wendy -
We had a wonderful holiday and loved your house. The setting was perfect, with a wonderful view of the beautiful 3rd green. We both thought that your development was very conveniently located and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday.
We will definitely be returning as my husband loves the golf course and we both enjoyed staying in your house.
