The Costa de Almeria region
In the southern part of the peninsula, the Almería Coast extends along the Mediterranean Sea. It enjoys the sunniest and warmest climate in the whole of Europe, with 320 days of sunshine on average. The landscape is very unusual with some areas desert-like while greenhouse crops flourish in others. The costline is a mix mountains, with rocky beaches or long open sandy beaches with dunes, affording a wide range of leisure options to enjoy. Its towns and cities still bear the traces of ancient civilisations, such as the El Argar and Los Millares cultures, with a wealth of ancient buildings, such as the Alcazaba citadel in the city of Almería and the watchtowers and castles along the coast, a sign of this area's historical importance. The most modern cities are located at the end of the coast and beckon tourists to enjoy the climate, sea and beaches, with resorts that make the Almería Coast the perfect place for a holiday. This coast's nature areas are also beyond compare. The Cabo de Gata-Nijar Nature Reserve is a paradisiacal spot with pristine, secluded beaches where you can enjoy the clean waters, ideal for sports like scuba diving, sailing and windsurfing. The sight of its high cliffs being struck by roaring waves is awe-inspiring.
Mojacar is an idyllic whitewashed village with a colourful history, perched on a hilltop in the foothills of the Sierra Cabrera mountain range, with stunning views of the Mediterranean coastline. Mojacar and the surrounding areas are steeped in history, from the Moores and Christians that fought for power of this area over 100's of years. The Moorish heritage is evident from its beautiful architecture and winding cobbled streets with the Moores and Christian's fiesta taking place every June.
Mojacar playa offers a variety of traditional Spanish tapas bar, restaurants and beach bars with 17km of golden sandy beaches awarded the blue flag.
There are several golf courses in the local area, within 25 minute drive and activities such as crazy golf, tenpin bowling and go karting for all age groups.

"Flies, nothing to do locally, and they kept our deposit!!!!"
The place is ok, lots of steps (not good for children or elderly), no one explained how to turn on the hot water or work the air-conditioning. The pool area was covered in flies daily - so much so tha… More
Disapppointing and surprising review, especially as this extract was taken from the email we received shortly after their departure "Pass on our deepest thanks and best wishes to the owners for letting us stay and you never know we might be back next year!"
The family were met at the property and shown around by one of our representatives and given the opportunity to ask any questions about the house and local area. The villa is finished and maintained to a high standard throughout. We are clear in our descriptions as to the location of all our properties and the distance from amenities.
The statement that the security deposit has been kept is simply not true. We have withheld only the cost of replacing a mirror which was broken during the stay of the reviewer. We have photographic evidence less than 1 hour after departure and have deducted the cost of this item only, the balance of the bond was returned in full.
We provide a detailed information pack for each property including recommended restaurants which are all open a minimum of 6 nights a week. Unfortunately we are unable to control the flies which affect the mediterranean area not just this villa or this area in the summer months.

"Great villa, great location, great holiday :)"
Booked this villa for my wife and friends with 2 kids after hearing good things about the area from my friend that lives close by in Garrucha. The area is quiet and relaxing, I was worried there would not be much for us to do except sit at the beach, but more on that later. The Villa itself is beautiful, marble floors, solid wood furnishings air-con throughout (very important as it's hot out there!!). The commodities were great, plenty of bathrooms and toilets for all to share. The porch where we had our BBQ's was lovely with views of the sea and a pleasant ocean breeze. Now my favourite part of the villa was the pool, I usually dislike pools because of the chlorine but this pool had different cleaning system which meant less chlorine so no red eyes!!! Also the garden has two lovely palm trees for shade and trees outlining the property for a bit of privacy. Now back to things to do, I was pleasantly surprised at the range of activities there are to do nearby, there's a great water park less than 3 miles away and a go-kart track less than 5 so the kids and I were in heaven, and there is also the world famous Desert Spring Golf Club 2 miles away. There's plenty to do in town too from the Saturday market (which my wife and her friend loved, what woman doesn't love shopping?) local Vera bars and restaurants. If you want something local and cheap to eat there is a Chinese all you can eat buffet on Avenida de Baria (about 2 miles from the villa) which served surprisingly good food for the price. If want spend a bit more you can venture a little further into Vera there is a great restaurant in Terraza Carmona Hotel. I personally like my fish so I loved the restaurants that are all over the coast line in that area. The closest beach is about 3 miles away, it's a nude one though so be warned! But if you drive a little further there are normal beaches just down the road. My favourite beaches were the ones in Mojaca (about 20 minute drive from the villa) because the great restaurants on the beach front. Mojaca is where it's at if your young and want to party, they decent clubs the best of which Mandala is a restaurant (great food if somewhat pricey food) by day club by night. All in all my wife and friends had a great time, we are looking to go back next year this time with all the family :)
