Vera is one of the best tourist destinations in the Costa de Almeria. It can be whatever you want from a holiday, charming, quiet, relaxing place to spend a great holiday exploring the traditional Spanish villages, lively, great food, dance the night away in the nearby coastal resorts of Mojaca and Garrucha. Also Vera Playa has a wide range of amenities and entertainment possibilities within easy reach.
You will enjoy a first class holiday in the award-winning, unique Thalassa complex, where you will be able to relax, sunbathing in any of the 3 large pools (one indoor) or practice many sports (tennis, paddle tennis, gym, petanque). Why not relax in the Spa (sauna, turkish bath,jacuzzi, water-jet) after another great day in Vera. The Costa de Almeria region


The Costa de Almeria is one of the warmest and sunniest regions in the whole of Europe, so it is no wonder you have chosen this area as your holiday destination! With over 320 days of sunshine a year, it is hardly surprising that this region is becoming a very popular place to both live and visit.
The Costa de Almeria is conveniently situated on the southeastern Mediterranean Coast and is easily accessible from the airports of Almeria, Alicante & Murcia. The sandy beaches stretch for 17 kilometres and most have blue flag status. There are many shops, markets, restaurants and bars conveniently located in Vera, Garrucha, Villaricos and Mojacar.
The Costa Almeria also benefits for several local laws limiting the type and amount of building that can take place on this Costa making it less spoilt than its neighbours of Costa del sol and Costa Blanca.
The Vera Playa / Al Andalus Thalassa area
Al Andulus is a secure gated community with two outdoor and one indoor pools, creating a safe home away from home to be the base for your holiday. It also has a small gym, children's play areas, tennis courts and paddle tennis courts.
The area has a great selection of bars and restaurants, Vera Waterpark is about 2km away and the beach is about 2km as well. There is a large supermarket about 1km from the apartment with all the groceries, including many English brands, that you may need for your stay.
Away from the immediate area, the local beach resorts of Garrucha and Mojacar Playa offer further, excellent opportunities for sunbathing, water sports, restaurants and bars. The new port at Garrucha has opened several excellent fish restaurants and opportunites for seas fishing excursions.
Mojaca Playa has an abundance of restaurants to suit all tastes as well as bars and clubs without spoiling the small holiday resort appeal.
For the golf and sports enthusiasts there is a sports facility with driving range, tennis, pitch and putt and gym facilities 3-4km from the resort. There are 4 Golf courses within 20 minutes drive of the complex to suit all levels of player. The nearest are Val de Est and Desert Springs, both about 5 minutes drive away, both of these have excellent Spa facilities, for the golfing widows among you.
Further a field (30km) is the national park of Cabo De Gata. Cabo de Gata-Níjar is Andalucia's largest coastal protected area, a wild and isolated landscape with some of Europe's most original geological features. The eponymous mountain range is Spain's largest volcanic rock formation with sharp peaks and crags in ochre-hues. It falls steeply to the sea creating jagged 100m-high cliffs, which are riven by gullies leading to hidden coves with white sandy beaches, some of the most beautiful in Andalucia. Offshore are numerous tiny rocky islands and, underwater, extensive coral reefs teeming with marine life.

There are three airport options that are available. Almeria, Murcia and Alicante. All the budget airlines fly into one or all of these airports including, BMI Baby, Easyjet, Thomsonfly, Flybe, Jet2, Excel, Monarch and Freedom. Almeria is the nearest and about 70-80km from the apartment (45 mins), Murcia is about 1 hour away and Alicante another hour on top of that.
There are several car hire companies at all the airports, I have booked through Nisa, Carjet.com and Crown, all have been excellent value for money.
To find the apartment is very straightforward from any of the airports because it is directly off the main motorway (A7/E15) that runs along the Mediterranean coastline from Gibraltar to Costa Brava. From Almeria Airport follow the direction of Murcia and from Murcia and Alicante follow the signs for Almeria and Malaga.
