About the home

To add to its charm, it lies within several hundred feet of the Ventnor Cricket Club as well as the Island’s largest and most beautiful Botanic Gardens and the attractive and very popular Steephill Cove Beach. This is all located within “a conservation area of outstanding natural undercliff beauty” and adjoins a large area of “coastline of special scientific interest” to the west, which includes significant bird migration points.
To the east, within a 15-minute walk, is the seaside town centre of Ventnor, with tropical terraces and palm trees. Those arriving with a car will discover that they could easily enjoy an entire week without having to use it!

This modern yet classic cottage is built of local limestone with 12-inch thick walls, double-glazing and insulation making it exceptionally cosy and quiet.
Smoking is restricted to only covered outside areas. For safety you are advised by the owner not to climb on the steep rock areas gated off in the garden. Garden furniture is provided.

Two parking spaces at the main road end of a sloping/narrow private drive lead to the cottage, two steps or a grass slope lead up to a covered, seated patio and an open patio and level lawns. Two further steps lead to inside and an open plan cottage…

The Ventnor area

The Cascade leads up to the town, which is built on a series of zigzag terraces and steeped in history. There are friendly souvenir shops as well as delicatessens and convenience stores. Enjoy some peace and quiet in the tranquil Botanic Gardens, a 22-acre sub-tropical paradise. Heading west is one of the Island's hidden gems, Steephill Cove. All around Ventnor you'll find beautiful walks with dramatic viewpoints.

“Lovely setting” This cottage is in a lovely location above one of the nicest bays in the island and a short walk along the cliffs to ventnor. The two upstairs bedrooms are lovely and one has a balcony overlooking a really pretty walled garden. The kitchen and cottage had everything you might need and the lady we met just after arrival was really welcoming and friendly. Possible downsides were the downstairs bedroom which smelt a bit musty, the garden wasnt enclosed so you would have to watch small children and dogs, and only one bathroom which meant a bit of waiting particularly with 4 women in the cottage. These were minor things and didn't spoil the holiday in any way. You may have to watch the drive up to the house as it is a bit scary but you can park at the house in front. Also the stairs to the beach are quite steep so could cause problems for older or disabled people. I would definately go back.
