The Isle of Wight region

The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing break at any time of the year. It is an impressive island with unspoilt scenery and a wealth of fascinating attractions.

For the active, there are plenty of sports to enjoy- including windsurfing, sailing and paragliding. For those who wish to escape the modern world, we're sure you'll leave the island having found exactly what you were looking for.

The minute you step off the ferry onto the island there is a sense of relaxing. For a stress free, fun family holiday the island is popular all year round. For those who enjoy a physical challenge and if it is an adventure holiday you seek then look no further.

With over half of the Island designated as an 'area of outstanding natural beauty' and a network of footpaths that stretches over 500 miles, it is easy to get close to nature. Alternatively, if you are looking for somewhere to be spoilt then indulge yourself in the Isle of Wight's fine restaurants, art galleries and historic houses.

Ventnor

This quaint Victorian seaside resort is located at the southern end of the island and accessed via an array of steep winding roads set amidst truly stunning scenery. Sheltered by St. Boniface Down- one of the island's highest points and an 'area of outstanding natural beauty', this charming town has a uniquely mild climate which suprisingly enables tropical and exotic plants to grow throughout the area.

The sandy and fine shingle beaches provide excellent facilities for watersports and offer a range of stunning coastal paths to explore. The harbour sells a broad range of fresh fish and seafood in various outliets. A wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants line the esplanade- while the Botanical Gardens are within easy reach and well worth a visit.

With plenty to see and do around the island for all the family- including great walking and cycling opportunities, medieval castles, historic houses and a variety of gardens and waterfalls, this great holiday destination has plenty to offer at any time of year!

The busier town of Newport is just 16 kilometers and Cowes is only 20 kilometers away!

"great location. Great views."

The Perch provided myself, husband small child and mother in law with a comfortable and homely stay.
The beds were comfortable and the rooms airy. The kitchen provided everything we needed and the garden although small had fantastic views which made us almost feel we were abroad.
The sun room was impossible to use as on the week we stayed temperatures were reaching 30 degrees outside (we were very lucky with the weather)
The Perch is a 5 min walk away from town and the beach, and a 20 min walk away from steephill cove which is a must for visitors who love natural rustic quiet beauty.
The Perch isnt perfect. It doesnt have the wow factor of some places i have stayed. It could do with a nice bbq in the garden and a little tlc here and there but we would stay there again. It is reasonably priced and the owner viv was very accommodating to requests such as allowing us to take our french bulldog archie along with us. As a family we would definitely recommend this holiday home to you.

many thanks for your lovely comments regarding the perch, hope to hear from you soon

"very homeley house with suberb views close to Ventnor town centre"

We found that the house met all our needs. It was well equipped and plenty of space. The outside was loveley and the conservatory. We used the bbq for a fantastic fish bbq bought from the beach shop. The parking was a bit annoying because we could never park outside. We especially enjoyed the Volunteer pub and their quiz night.

"An excellent location for visiting the island"

The Perch proved to be a great location for a relaxing break near the sea. The house was clean and comfortable and provided all the equipment we needed. Situated near the beach and also within walking distance of the town, the house is in an ideal position for walking and evening entertainment.
There is plenty to do on the island - whatever the weather. Best of all, we took our big black dog with us and he was also welcomed wherever we went - joining us for pub meals, afternoon teas and receiving a special treat down at the local.
