Ventnor has its own mediterranean style microclimate with many tropical plants and sunny terraces. Down in the southern part of the island it regularly enjoys more sunshine hours then anywhere else in the UK and you will often see people sitting outside cafes on the esplanade enjoying their coffee even in the winter months.
We have fantastic coastal and downland walks with hidden gems such as Steephill cove. The botanical gardens in Ventnor hosts 22 acres of sub-tropical gardens with many rare and beautiful plants.
You can try your hand at sea fishing, dine out at one of the many restaurants and pubs, shop or relax with a coffee whilst the children play in the famous "island" paddling pool.
The beach which is part sand, part shingle, is a real sun-trap and is popular with families in the summer and dog walkers in the winter.

"Wished I could have stayed longer.."
Thank you to Dawn and Guy for a lovely, if all too short, stay at Marina Apartments. The location was very specal, with fabulous sea views and all the amenities of Ventnor right on your doorstep, including a beach which is literally a stones throw away. The apartment was very comfortable, and it was obvious that the new owners have been busy updating and modernising in the short time since they took over management. The kitchen was well equipped, our beds were comfortable, the apartment was spacious and nothing was too much trouble for the owners, including help with booking a ferry, and tips on what to see and do in the short time we were there. Wished we could have stayed longer and will definitely return.

Just returned from a lovely stay at Marina Apartments in Ventnor. We stayed in driftwood apartment on the top floor and the views across the sea were wonderful. So much to do for a family with young children and a dog. Would highly recommend a walk to Steephill Cove and we all loved Blackgang Chine about a 15min drive away. The accommodation had everything we needed, we were lucky to be the first to sleep on new mattresses which were very comfortable. I love the seaside themed nic nacs and pictures in the apartment. Dawn and Guy are great owners very pleasant and helpful, they are also very keen to make more improvements to the accommodation, I will definately be returning in the near future. :-D

"IOW in a bottle"
This is why you go to the IOW. 50 yards to the beach, great pubs and food and that cheeky little bit of sunshine while its raining in England's north island! So what's to like:- Ventnor is a great town and you are 50 yards from a lovely beach Its got pubs, takeaways, restaurants, cafes and hospitality to die for. I travel a lot and the folk in Ventnor put that little bit more effort in We had an apartment with a balcony. Only a few do, so check on booking and its worth that little bit extra, but eating breakfast whilst watching the waves break on the shore is pretty special. The cleanliness of the apartment was superb - it was nicely decorated in a seaside theme, everything worked and there was lots of space for the whole family What's not to like:- The surf at Ventnor is medium to low. To very low. So as a family resort its great but don't expect any adult time on the waves. There is a bit of a lagoon at low tide so you have sheltered bathing in up to 3' of water The Smugglers Inn does great food but you can't book a table. And most of their beers are off-island. But its still worth the battle for a meal there. Top tips:- Make full use of the veranda above the car park. Its for everyone to share and you can relax with a drink overlooking the bay, meet your neighbors and exchange ideas about where to explore Find the back steps early. Its only 100 yards into the center of town up the back steps but a long way round otherwise. Take the coastal route east AND west to explore. Its stunning both ways. I know my favorite but you will have to make up your own mind

"Fantastic location, excellent appartments, great value"
We booked this late over then Bank Holiday weekend, and were really pleased to find something, especially at this price. The photos looked great, but still don't do justice to the apartments or the views. It was amazing to be so close to the beach, literally 1 minutes walk, which makes such a difference when you have little ones with tired legs at the end of a whole day on the beach. (Also handy for the local CO-OP, probably a 3 minute walk from the back entrance to the apartments) Apartments were clean, and there were lots of nice touches. The lounge looked recently redecorated and we also clearly had a new sofa which was very comfortable. kitchen was well equipped for a holiday rental, and our children loved the coin operated meter. (As the apartment is just a minutes walk from the local arcade, which the children also loved - definitely bring your jar of 2ps from home! - we didn't find having spare pound coins a problem!) It was great to have a parking spot right outside, although we didn't use the car much. Be warned, the roads in and out of Ventnor are quite steep and twisty, but everyone drives slowly. Everything went really smoothly, it was hard to believe the owners had only been running the apartments a couple of months. The only thing that was missing was recycling facilities, and these arrived on our final day. There was also a nice collection of games and books which we dipped into, and a decent TV with sky, that we didn't actually turn on over the weekend, other than to check the weather forecast. Overall a great break and just what we wanted.
