The Isle of Wight region

The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing break at any time of the year. It is an impressive island with unspoilt scenery and a wealth of fascinating attractions.

For the active, there are plenty of sports to enjoy- including windsurfing, sailing and paragliding. For those who wish to escape the modern world, we're sure you'll leave the island having found exactly what you were looking for. The minute you step off the ferry onto the island there is a sense of relaxing. For a stress free, fun family holiday the island is popular all year round. For those who enjoy a physical challenge and if it is an adventure holiday you seek then look no further.

With over half of the Island designated as an 'area of outstanding natural beauty' and a network of footpaths that stretches over 500 miles, it is easy to get close to nature. Alternatively, if you are looking for somewhere to be spoilt then indulge yourself in the Isle of Wight's fine restaurants, art galleries and historic houses.

Ventnor / St Lawrence, Ventnor area

This quaint Victorian seaside resort is located at the southern end of the island and accessed via an array of steep winding roads set amidst truly stunning scenery. Sheltered by St. Boniface Down- one of the island's highest points and an 'area of outstanding natural beauty', this charming town has a uniquely mild climate which suprisingly enables tropical and exotic plants to grow throughout the area.

The sandy and fine shingle beaches provide excellent facilities for watersports and offer a range of stunning coastal paths to explore. The harbour sells a broad range of fresh fish and seafood in various outliets. A wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants line the esplanade- while the Botanical Gardens are within easy reach and well worth a visit.

With plenty to see and do around the island for all the family- including great walking and cycling opportunities, medieval castles, historic houses and a variety of gardens and waterfalls, this great holiday destination has plenty to offer at any time of year!

The busier town of Newport is just 16 kilometers and Cowes is only 20 kilometers away!

Guestbook for Corky's Cottage

"Congratulations Lesley and Mark for creating a stylish cosy 'place by the sea'. A perfect location for discovering the delights of Victorian Ventnor with its fresh seafood, stunning coastal walks and secluded coves. Good luck with 'Corky's' and will look forward to a return visit.

P.s. Crab sandwiches a must, along with a visit to Steephill Cove!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We loved this cottage. It is beautifully furnished and very welcoming. There are so many extra touches that makes you feel you are at home, which make all the difference especially when you are travelling with children. Mark and Lesley put in some thoughtful extra touches for us such as night lights which helped a lot. The cottage is in a great location and although we were only there for a few nights, there are easily sufficient amenities to ensure a pleasant and easy longer stay. We would most certainly like to return to the Isle and will keep our fingers crossed that Corky's is available again.
