The Isle of Wight region

The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing break at any time of the year. It is an impressive island with unspoilt scenery and a wealth of fascinating attractions.
For the active, there are plenty of sports to enjoy- including windsurfing, sailing and paragliding. For those who wish to escape the modern world, we're sure you'll leave the island having found exactly what you were looking for. The minute you step off the ferry onto the island there is a sense of relaxing. For a stress free, fun family holiday the island is popular all year round. For those who enjoy a physical challenge and if it is an adventure holiday you seek then look no further.
With over half of the Island designated as an 'area of outstanding natural beauty' and a network of footpaths that stretches over 500 miles, it is easy to get close to nature. Alternatively, if you are looking for somewhere to be spoilt then indulge yourself in the Isle of Wight's fine restaurants, art galleries and historic houses.
The Ventnor / St Lawrence, Ventnor area
This quaint Victorian seaside resort is located at the southern end of the island and accessed via an array of steep winding roads set amidst truly stunning scenery. Sheltered by St. Boniface Down- one of the island's highest points and an 'area of outstanding natural beauty', this charming town has a uniquely mild climate which suprisingly enables tropical and exotic plants to grow throughout the area.
The sandy and fine shingle beaches provide excellent facilities for watersports and offer a range of stunning coastal paths to explore. The harbour sells a broad range of fresh fish and seafood in various outliets. A wide variety of shops, pubs and restaurants line the esplanade- while the Botanical Gardens are within easy reach and well worth a visit.
With plenty to see and do around the island for all the family- including great walking and cycling opportunities, medieval castles, historic houses and a variety of gardens and waterfalls, this great holiday destination has plenty to offer at any time of year!
The busier town of Newport is just 16 kilometers and Cowes is only 20 kilometers away!

A perfect cottage for a couple or small group or family. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very well furnished. It's a short walk from the beach and the shops. |

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Ventnor and Corky's was very comfortable, living up to the website description and more. The little extras that made it feel like home shows that the owners really care for their guests. The walk into 'town' took 8 minutes (or a little longer when we took the scenic route along the seafront). El Toro and Phileas Fogg were good value 'casual dining' restaurants and Lesley's recommendation for the Ale & Oyster was 'spot-on', probably the best fillet steak I've ever tasted. Sitting at a window table with the sound of 'cicadas' and waves on the beach made it seem like Menorca or the Greek Islands but without the hassle of travelling for hours! Hope to come back soon.............. Response: Thank you for the lovely feedback and for the great picture of our lounge. |

Corky's is a lovely cottage - deceptively spacious and tastefully decorated. Having a young child we were not able to take advantage of any nightlife, so it was important for us to be comfortable and cosy in the evenings. The Sky+ TV helped keep us entertained together with a huge DVD collection and a couple of good takeaways - that deliver. Comfy beds ensured we were well rested and ready for the next day's Island adventure. We would definately go back to the Island and to Corky's. |

My (heavily pregnant) daughter and I had a lovely long weekend break in mid October. The sun shone, the cottage was immaculate and we strolled to the beach and the shops. We visited the Garlic Farm and Osborne House and generally mixed lounging around with activities - it was a wonderful way to get away from it all - recommended!

Had a brilliant stay at Corky's with the family, the cottage is spotless and very well appointed. The kids loved the large selection of DVD's to watch in the evenings. An excellent position close to the lovely town of Ventnor and ideally situated to explore the rest of the island.
Just have to say the neighbours are lovely had some long chats over the fence.
Had a great stay and look forward to coming back - Hopefully in the near future!

The cottage that has been decorated beautifully. It's comfortable, relaxing and quiet. It has a nautical feel without being over themed or twee. I am taking lots of interior design ideas home with me. The Owner, Lesley, has been so thoughtful and communicative in ensuring we have everything we need for our stay without any fuss. In fact we are bowled over at just how good Corky's is. I challenge you to find better!

What a lovely holiday we have had at Corkys Cottage. The standard of accomodation is very high with gorgeous furnishings and everything you could possibly need for your holiday. Ventnor is lovely with some really good restaurants all within a few minutes walk from the cottage. We explored all over the island and walked for miles along the coastal paths with some amazing views. The walk to steephill cove is an absolute must and the crab pasties were delicious! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Corkys Cottage to anyone and hope to visit again soon.

We have just returned from a two week holiday at Corkys Cottage - May 2011. The house was lovey and nicely decorated and suited our needs down to the ground. Ventnor beach about 5/10 mins away and Spyglass Inn on Ventnor beach front well worth a visit (as recommended). Our 2.5 year old loved the pirate books which you left out for her and could recite most of the words by the time we left. Overall a lovely relaxed family holiday. Thank you very much !

We had a lovely stay at Corky's Cottage!! The cottage was very charming with everything you could need for a holiday stay. It has an ideal location in Ventnor, within easy walking distance of several good restaurants and a well stocked grocery store. The cottage was a great place to spend our evening relaxing after a long day walking on some of the many public walking trails in the area. The views along the coastal path are spectacular! Thank you for the "home away from home"!! Annette John (USA) May 2011
