Home description
Tempietto belongs to the Frassanelle estate, one of the great Venetian properties. The estate of Frassanelle has been in the hands of the Counts Papafava since the 13th century, well over 700 years. The 150 hectare estate consists of a Venetian Villa, a 19th century English park, a skillfully designed 18 hole golf course and organically cultivated farmland.
The romanticism of this house makes it truly exceptional. The playfully charming Tempietto was built in 1822 in pure neoclassical style. It was conceived as a place to which to retire - and not necessarily alone - and true to its purpose stands in one of the most beautiful spots of the park Frassanelle within a slightly sloping clearance which blossoms with poppy's and daisy's in spring.
The front of the house, as with a real temple, is an open but protected portico where guests have their meals when the weather is fine. The entry hall leads to a well equipped kitchen and a living room with open fire place. The first floor houses the bedrooms and bathroom. A second bathroom is situated in the basement.

The North East Italy / Veneto region
The Veneto region has much to offer the visitor. Its ancient cities are rich in history and their magnificent architecture is renowned all over the world. Noble palaces, quiet cloisters and tranquil squares are alternated by bustling streets with elegant shops selling fine goods and colourful markets offering the local delicacies.
The numerous Veneto villas, the Villeggiatura, are a real must : When Venetian maritime trade declined in the course of the 16th century, Patrician families felt compelled to rethink their old principle of "coltivar il mare, lasciar stare la terra" (cultivating the sea, letting the land be) and remembered the hitherto neglected hinterland, the Terraferma.
By reclaiming the alluvial land and starting agricultural production, they had a second string to their bow, as it were. But they would not have been the Venetians, had they not as a matter of course transferred their customary civilized lifestyle to the country. This in turn meant that they had magnificent villas built in the style of their urban palaces, but situated in the midst of their agricultural estates.
Venice area
The estate Frassanelle lies within easy reach of the famous historic villas of the Veneto, many of them built by the great Italian architect Andrea Palladio, as also the Italian cities of Venice (50 km), Vicenza (23 km), Verona (90 km), Ferrara (80 km), Mantua (98 km), Asolo and the Lake district. As far as sport is concerned, the Frassanelle Golf club is situated on the estate. Two further golf clubs and tennis court are situated nearby.
Things to do: Padua (Padova) biggest tourist attraction is the Scrovegni Chapel (Cappella degli Scrovegni), with its priceless frescoes by Giotto. Art-lover has masses to admire in the town's churches and art gallery. Vicenza a UNESCO World Heritage Site, its 'unique appearance,' largely owing to the work of influential sixteenth-century architect Andrea Palladio.
- The Spa Abano Terme: Abano Terme was known for its curative waters in Roman days. - The Euganean Hills: For the most part a fertile plain, the hinterland of Venice does hold some surprises in store: unexpectedly, about 20 km south-west of Padua, a group of solitary cone-shaped hills suddenly rises, the Colli Euganei or Euganean Hills.
- Visiting the famous venetian villas: La Baodoera, La Malcontenta, Villa Barbaro at Maser and Villa Emo at Fanzolo, were designed by Andrea Palladio. On the Brenta Canal the most outstanding among 125 villas are the Contarini Simes and Pisani Villas. The remarkable Villa Emo (at Rivella, just near Monselice) can be viewed by appointment.
-Butterfly Arc: in Montegrotto Terme a vast greenhouse is the habitat of 100 different types of butterflies from all over the world. -The gardens of Villa Barbarigo, Valsanzibio: In the 1600’s Antonio Barbarigo, brother of St. Gregorio, enlargened and transformed the exterior of the villa by drawing out a large water garden inspired by the antique Romans.
-Culinary matters: the area has many appealing restaurants of which you will find a list in the house.
