A south-facing 100 sq/mtrs canalside apartment on the Dorsoduro, which is one of the quietest and most sought-after areas of Venice. The apartment lies 2 minutes from the delightful Zattere and 1 minute from charming Campo Santa Margherita. It is close to all the major sights, but away from the main tourist traps, making a stay here restful even in the busiest months. The whole interior has recently been restored (June 2007). Rooms are bright and spacious and most have moulded plaster ceilings with old Murano chandeliers; floors are of travertine limestone, carrara marble or ceramic sandstone. 2 of the 3 bedrooms look out over the canal and the living room has a very large comfortable sofabed. The apartment has a separate well-equipped kitchen. Other features/facilities include Internet access, flat-screen TV, DVD player and stereo, film library and a comprehensive selection of Venetian-themed books. The apartment is beautifully furnished throughout with a mixture of contemporary and antique styles, including a magnificent Henri II carved walnut bed.

The North East Italy / Veneto region

Whilst in the apartment, don't forget that you're only 10 minutes away from the railway station, which gives you access to the nearby historic cities of Padua, Vicenza and Verona, as well as the Palladian Villas and the Italian Lakes.

Venice / Central Venice area

Immediately outside the apartment is the church of San Sebastiano, whose celebrated interior was the 24-year-long project of local artist Veronese. Close by you'll also find the Accademia and Guggenheim galleries, the Frari, the Scuola Grande di San Rocco and the Scuola Grande dei Carmini. The famous Ca' Rezzonico (including its useful vaporetto and traghetto stops) on the Grand Canal is a 2 minute walk away. 20 minutes on foot will take you to both San Marco and the Rialto.

How to get there

BA, Easyjet, and Jet2 all fly to Venice Marco Polo where you can catch the Vaporetto (water bus) directly in to Venice. This takes from 45 minutes. You can also take a water taxi from the airport. This is expensive but would bring you directly to the door of the apartment in under 30 minutes. Ryanair fles to Venice Treviso - a 45 minute coach journey into the city.

Arrival by car, taxi or coach brings you to Piazzale Roma or by train to Venice Santa Lucia - a 15 minute walk to the apartment or catch the No 1 Vaporetto to the Ca' Rezzonico stop on the Grand Canal.

When you make a booking with us we will send or e-mail you an information pack with directions to the apartment, map, and advice on airport transfers. There is an "Information and Advice" folder in the apartment with details of local shops bars and restaurants etc.

At Ca' San Sebastiano you can expect to find what is often lacking from many self-catering apartments, including chilled prosecco and mineral water upon your arrival, feather pillows, umbrellas and walking sticks, a fully equipped picnic basket and coolbag, beach towels, electrical adaptors, stationery, postcards, a good selection of Venetian and Italian CDs and DVDs, as well as an impressive library of books on Venice and more general literature.

The very well equipped kitchen means you can take full advantage of the superb local markets, including the fish and vegetable stalls in Campo Santa Margherita, just 1 minute's walk from your kitchen.

Further details

Access - there are just 4 steps up to the apartment - otherwise there is level access to the Ca' Rezzonico vaporetto and traghetto stop on the Grand Canal. There is only one bridge to cross to reach the Zattere and San Basilio vaporetto stop

Minimum 3 night stay - although a 2 night stay may occasionally be possible - charged at 2.5 times the daily rate.
