Home description

Imagine yourself amidst picturesque canals and charming campielli in the sought-after sestriere of Dorsoduro, a picture perfect place tucked away from the tourist crowds yet minutes from the major attractions. Newly restored, beautifully adorned, Ca' Venexiana offers an unforgettable setting in which to experience the magic of La Serenissima. Our private garden courtyard faces onto the crossing of two peaceful canals while inside you will find a splendid retreat where you can truly live la vita di Venezia, an experience no hotel can offer.

Inside Ca' Venexiana you will find the "little things" most easily forgotten about when travelling—electrical adapters, umbrellas, books, movies, music, even a picnic basket! And our kitchen is fully-equipped; we strongly suggest visiting the local markets and trying your hand at some delicious Italian dishes (we have a selection of cookbooks on hand). Enjoy your meal outside on our wonderful secluded courtyard, giving a wave to a passing gondolier while churchbells echo in the distance.

Venice, the queen of the Adriatic, has been attracting visitors for centuries for good reason. Museums, artwork, history, churches, hospitality...Piazza San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, Rialto, palazzos on the Grand Canal...she is a treasure box waiting to be explored. From Venice, you can easily venture outward to her neighboring islands (Murano, Burano, Torchello...) and the northeastern mainland of Italy which offers such jewels as Padova and Verona. Further details indoors:
Newly renovated, Ca' Venexiana is comprised of a living room with fireplace, a full kitchen, full bathroom, two bedrooms and a quiet courtyard that faces a canal. It is set on the ground floor with no worry of acqua alta (high water) as entry is accessed by way of a small set of stairs, keeping our flat 1+ metre above ground level. Our position alongside two canals provides for washes of natural light and views that are simply charming. For guests arriving by private watercraft, the property also has its own boat mooring (9 metres long).

Inside, we believe you will find everything you could want for a memorable stay. The bedrooms are comfortably appointed and the kitchen allows for trying your own hand at some authentic Venetian dishes. Among our many amenities, you'll find TV(SKY), DVD, video games, stereo and wif-fi/broadband internet access, as well as a library of interesting books, music, and movies about Venice and Italy. Please visit our website for further details and photographs.

Also included with your stay are bed linen and bath towels, all utilities (electricity and heating, water, garbage collection), internet use, and final cleaning upon your departure. For stays longer than one week, linens and towels are changed and cleaning of the flat is done weekly; this service can be arranged more often for an additional charge.

Further details outdoors:
Our location in sestriere Dorsoduro is easily accessible by land, sea or air arrival into Venice. Within minutes of our doorstep, you will find the popular and enjoyable Campo San Margherita, Campo San Barnaba, and the Zattere. Filled with shops, bars, and restaurants (as well as the best gelaterias in Venice), they are all perfect and unique spots for basking in the Venetian atmosphere.

Dorsoduro is home to some of Venice's oldest and most beautiful churches—San Sebastiano, I Carmini, and the stunning Santa Maria della Salute, a true jewel on the Grand Canal. And at the local squero you can see where gondolas are still made by hand as they have been for centuries. A short stroll across the Accademia Bridge leads you to Piazza San Marco with its incredible basilica and campanile, as well as the Palazzo Ducale and the ever wistful Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs). Follow along winding passageways and around hidden corners to the famous Ponte de Rialto (Rialto Bridge) with its bustling marketplace that simply overflows with the sights and sounds and scents that are so unique to this remarkable city.

Guestbook for Ca' Venexiana in Dorsoduro

Nuria from Spain (August 2009)
This is the type of apartment that makes you write a review to tell the world how nice it is. I have stayed in many apartments across Europe, and this type of apartment is really the future: the hotels will be a thing of the past! The amenities of the apartment are unbelievable. We travelled with children, and they even found a gamecube to play, lots of Tv channels, internet for us! The information was incredible: books, guides, a book with all the apartment information...there were umbrellas, hats, and even something to cover my shoulders in churches!!!
I hate it when I arrive at one apartment and there is no cleaning stuff. Here you find everything: detergent, dishwasher tablets, bin bags...you don't have that feeling that you have to spend a fortune in the supermarket to be comfortable (as we had to do in our previous holiday home in Tuscany). The apartment also has all the basics for cooking: olive oil, vinegar, salt spices, coffee, tea, sugar.
For me there are 2 types of apartments: the very basic ones and the ones where you feel you have borrowed someone else's home. This is how you feel at Ca Venexiana, at home. I must also said that it has been tastefully decorated to the last detail. Even the table lamps had Amercian sockets, this means that someone who is capable of crossing the Atlantic with lamps to decorate is putting loads of attention to the last detail, or at least that was my conclusion! In fact I must say the the photos of the advert are the worst part of it, as the reality is far better. The views to the canal were amazing, just sitting outside having a coffee feels a real Venetian experience. The location is also very convenient. You are close to attractions but not in the middle of the tourist centre. It is a pleasure to walk along the streets of Dorsoduro. We really enjoyed Venice and the city impressed us very much. There was a waterbus stop, a supermarket, restaurants and shops very near.
Congratulations for the great job done in this apartment!

Jonathan from the U.K. (May, 2009)
I just want to write to you and say that you have the most wonderful apartment in Venice, and you really have gone out of your way (and succeeded) in trying to make a home from home. The flat has everything you could wish for, and it is all so tastefully put together. We have stayed in flats all over Europe, and this was the best by far. Absolutely.

Penny from the U.K. (May, 2009)
Your apartment is so beautiful and what a location! To sit in the garden and have a gondola glide by as you are sipping prosecco is priceless! We were lucky enough to have good weather so we utilized that area every evening after long days out exploring Venice. Your book of tips with the markets, cafes, etc. was a perfect guide. Everything was perfection!

Charles from the U.K. (April, 2009)
Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely apartment. We had a fantastic 5 days and the kids absolutely loved Venice. The Dorsoduro is our favourite area in Venice so far, we found it a welcoming calm oasis after the hectic crowds in San Marco. We especially liked the fish and grocery markets and managed to cook up a storm in your well equipped kitchen! We saw most of Venice but made sure that we left a little bit so we can come back again!
We look forward to visiting Ca' Venexiana again soon!

Tess from Saudia Arabia (March, 2009)
Ca' Venexiana is the perfect place to stay in Venice! It's got the feeling of being at home but with all the comfort and amenities of a hotel. The property was clean, well maintained and caters to every bit of guest's comfort. It's location is also very convenient to all the tourist destination in Venice. We really enjoyed our stay at Ca' Venexiana, in fact, my children didn't want to leave at all! I highly recommend the place, it really exceeds your expectations!
