Home description

Ca'Amadi overlooks a very quiet and private Corte (with its 15th century well), yet is only minutes from the bustling Rialto Bridge and the Market. St Mark’s square (San Marco) is about 10 easy minutes away on foot.

The apartment sleeps 2 -4 adults comfortably (or 4+2), and is available throughout the year for a minimum of 3 nights. It is an ideal base for weekend or short breaks.

Although popular throughout the year, we particularly recommend visits in the quieter months of February, March and November.

“In the winter, Venice is like an abandoned theatre. The play is finished, but the echoes remain”.

The North East Italy / Veneto region

Apart from the odvious and well known charms and attractions of Venice itself, this is an ideal base from which to explore the delights of the Veneto region.

The Palladian villas along the Brenta canal, the cities of Padua, Vincenza and Verona, the Euganean Hills and the Dolomites (with their skiing facilities) are all in easy reach.

Venice, Veneto / Central Venice area

Venice – La Serenissima - the most magical city on earth………….

We have made frequent visits to Venice for over 20 years and have produced for our guests a personal guide to the city, listing our favourite places to visit, eat and shop.

From the busy Campo San Bartolomeo, a street leads north towards the Church of San Giovanni Crisostomo, off which is the square of the Teatro Malibran, one of the city’s major venue for classical concerts. The Corte Ca’Amadi lies just to one side. Nearby is the house where Marco Polo lived.

Being on the edges of the sestieri of Cannaregio, Castello and San Marco, it is extremely convenient for the city’s main attractions, all of which are in easy walking distance. Equally, the quieter residential areas, with shops, bars and restaurants can easily be found close by and ‘off the beaten path’.

Vaporetti for the outlying Islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello leave from the Fondamente Nuove, again a short walk away.

Close by, across the Rialto Bridge are the spectacular daily fish and vegetable markets and the residential sestieri of Dorsoduro and San Polo.

“Streets flooded. Please advise”. Robert Benchley, journalist (telegram from Venice to his editor)

How to get there

Our flat in Ca’ Amadi is just minutes from the Vaporetto stop at Rialto (lines 1 & 82), a short journey down the Grand Canal from the main arrival points of Piazzale Roma and the Ferrovia (railway station). A truly magical way in which to arrive!

British Airways, Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2.com, bmibaby and Thompsonfly all provide regular low cost flights from UK main and regional airports. These fly either to the main Marco Polo airport (www.veniceairport.it) or to Treviso (www.trevisoairport.it).

From Marco Polo, there is a choice of buses and taxis to Piazzale Roma, water taxi or Water Bus (Alilaguna).

Treviso airport (new terminal now open) is about 45 minutes by road with frequent connecting buses or taxis.

Trains arrive at the Ferrovia Santa Lucia (www.trenitaliaplus.com) which leads directly to the Grand Canal Vaporetto stop.

Car Parking either in Piazzale Roma or in Mestre on the mainland close to the railway station and then train to Santa Lucia.

Guestbook for Ca'Amadi

The aprtment itself was excellent in every way..from the absolutely central location to the thoughtful, very good quality decor/fixtures and fittings in every room to the selection of books (which were a great help).

We will definitely visit Venice again and can think of no reason why we would go anywhere other than Ca' Amadi. RG Bangkok.
