Ca'Masena is situated in Dorsoduro one of the most desirable areas in Venice, and is only a couple of minutes walk away from the San Basilio & Zattere boat stops on the waterfront. We are a 2 minute walk away from the supermarket. It is within easy reach of other transport links such as Piazzale Roma and Ferrovia.

Stroll along the Zattere with its amazing views across to Giudecca Island and Palladio's wonderful Redentore church. Keep going and you will reach La Salute which marks the point where the Grand Canal meets the Bacino di San Marco, from which you can see the whole expanse of the lagoon. You will not forget such a moment in a hurry! Also local to us is the Guggenheim and Punta della Dogana Art Museums both near the Accademia Bridge.

Not far away is Campo Barnaba, with its famous floating vegetable ‘shop’, and a bit further on Campo Santa Margherita, one of the liveliest squares in Venice with cafes, restaurants and a daily food market.

Dorsoduro, the heart of the Arts for Venice indeed has it all!

The North East Italy region

Throughout history Venice has been a magnet for visitors of all kinds, from the early medieval merchants on whose fortunes this fabulous city was built, to the more recent artists and 'mere' tourists. The latter who have come in search of landmarks such as Piazza San Marco, the Bridge of Sighs, Rialto, museums, & the grand palazzos on the Grand Canal, have not been disappointed! In addition to the manifold delights of Venice, a day's trip to the neighbouring islands (Murano, Burano, Torchello...) is a must if you are here for more than a few days.

There are of course the attractions of the Veneto within easy traveling distance. From Santa Lucia, the railway station you have access to the nearby historic cities of Padua, Vicenza and Verona, which include Palladian Villas. There is also the ferry service nearby which can transport to neighbouring Croatia and the Istrian coast.

Venice, Veneto

At the end of our lane is the magnificent Zattere promenade, where you can go for your evening stroll (passeggiata) along with the Venetians. Close by you will find the Accademia, Guggenheim and Punta della Dogana (Francois Pinault collection) galleries. La Salute (church) at the end of the Zattere marks the spot where the Grand Canal meets the Bacino di San Marco and there is a marvellous view to be had from this point.

Throughout the year there are the various pageants & festivals, one of the most famous being Carnavale in February. During May there is the Festa della Sensa to enjoy, while one of the most spectacular events happens in July with the Festa del Redentore, when a temporary bridge of barges is built across the Giudecca Canal. Of course there is always the annual Venice Festival and every two years the much to see and do yet so little time!

"Perfect place"

Ca'Masena is a comfortable and tastefully furnished appartment enhanced by Richard's paintings. It is so conveniently located to explore the delights of Venice on foot or by Vaporetti. Highly reccommended!

"More than just a great location"

The apartment is at the end of a small calle just off the Zattere in the Dorsoduro district. This means that as you step out from the calle you get wonderful views across to the Guidecca and as you walk along the beautiful Zattere the pleasure of bright sunlight for much of the day. With vaporetto stops nearby getting around is very easy and many must do sights such as the Galleria Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim gallery are an easy walk away( as are several lesser known churches worth visiting) . Great bars and restaurants are also minutes away. However this pretty apartment is more than just a great location. The small kitchen area is very well equipped, the beds are very comfortable and the living room spacious and elegant. The courtyard is lovely. The nearby supermarket has everything you might need and there is a a lovely fruit and vegetable shop round the corner. The meet and greet service was excellent. We would recommend this apartment unreservedly. We stayed for a week.

"Everything you need in a brilliant location"

My wife and I stayed at Ca' Masena with our 2 children. The appartment was perfect very comfortable. Bedroom, dining area, kitchen and bathroom all really good. Great Wifi connection and washing machine and garden for sorting laundry and supermarket just round the corner. Was a short walk to the centre of Venice and even nearer to San Margareta, where the restaurants were much nice and much better value. would definitely stay here again.

"Perfect for a more authentic Venice experience!"

I had always wanted to visit Venice but wasn't keen on the "touristy" experience or sure how much fun it would be with young children (5 and 7) until I read an article in a newspaper recommending a stay at Ca' Masena. We had an absolutely brilliant time! The apartment is small but perfectly formed. There is plenty of room for a young family - we had the spacious double bedroom and the kids were on sofa-beds in the lounge. There is free-WIFI, loads of guide-books, TV/DVD etc to keep the kids happy after a long day of walking and a pretty courtyard for sitting outside if it's sunny. The kitchen/dining room comfortably catered for 6 people and as we had our in-laws staying nearby in a hotel we cooked dinner in the apartment a couple of times which was great as we did find eating out to be expensive (as anticipated!) - so it was great to have that option.
Best of all is the location, in Dorsoduro which although incredibly central and beautiful, also manages to feel like a real neighbourhood. You can get to the famous sights and the Grand Canal really quickly, but equally spend hours happily wandering the backstreets and lesser known squares in Dorsoduro (some of the best cicchetti bars are around here too). There is a large and excellent Billa supermarket pretty much next door to the apartment, the best ice-cream in Venice at Nico's a short stroll away (they also do coffee and pastries for breakfast), the Zattere waterfront for people watching and 3 waterbus stops within a short distance
The owner (Suzette) was really helpful throughout, and there is a brilliant meet and greet service where you are taken to the apartment, shown around and given a few excellent locals tips for restaurants etc. The best of these tips was to try the local wine shop where you can buy 3 litre bottles of local wine (really nice quality - certainly no worse than any table wine in the restaurants) from a friendly local winemaker for a few Euros!
I am already planning a return visit to Ca' Masena - can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else!

"Ca'Masena met all our requirements for a stay in Venice."

Ca'Masena is well situated near a vaporetto stop and within walking distance of the main sites. - Also, a few steps away from a small supermarket and restaurants on the Zattare. It was delightfully cool and quiet which was important when staying in Venice in August.

"Great location"

We stayed at Masena for a week and found it to be a grest base to explore Venice. The main rooms were large and the court yard was a great bonus. It was in a quiet location but had plenty of restaurants nearby as well as a well stocked supermarket. St Marks was relatively near and the stop for the water bus was nearby as well. Overall a great experience in Venice.

"De ideale plek om te verblijven"

Recently my husband and I have spent for the second time a fortnight in Ca' Masena. And just like the first time, the year before, we were again very enthusiastic about our stay in this apartment… More

"Excellent location!"

We decided to book an apartment rather than staying in a hotel so that we could experience Venice in a more authentic way and what a lovely experience it was! The water bus from the airport drops you off a few minutes walk from the apartment (Zattere stop) and we were met by the 'apartment manager' (a company who look after the house and meet guests on arrival, check you have towels etc.) who showed us the apartment and all of its amenities. The apartment was very Venitian, down a little alley, with water at the end - just what we wanted!
There are some lovely restaurants within a short walk of the apartment and a shop about 2mins walk away - ideal for buying some wine!
The apartment has everything you need and gives you the space that you wouldn't have in a hotel.
We were able to walk to all the main sights from the apartment and didn't need to get any water buses, however, on the second day we decided to do island-hopping and a day pass on the buses was ideal!
The courtyard in the apartment was lovely for having breakfast in the morning and was even more special to us as that's where I was proposed to on the first morning - a VERY big shock after 11years!
Lovely break away. Would definitely go back to Venice and would definitely stay at Ca' Masena again!

"We'll be back!!!"

"A charming, sweet apartment with all you need!""

This is a lovely apartment in a non touristy part of Venice with all you need. It is simply and charmingly decorated and furnished and very well equipped. There is the most lovely area to sit out that gets the morning sun - just right for a slow start to the day. The main Zattere frontage is literally at the end of the alleyway - 25 metres from front door. The San Basilico and Zaterre Valoporeto stops are also very close so really easy to get to centre (or 30mins walk or so). Great eating places very nearby and some useful recommendations (or warnings!) are given by the owners in a comprehensive info pack.
For 2 people there is loads of room - for more than that I would feel it might feel a little cramp but that would depend on personal needs. I would certainly go back anytime.
