This one-bedroom flat restored in 2011 is full-comfort, sunny, quite cosy, sited at the border between Cannaregio and Castello, in a central area of the city which is yet still peopled with true Venetians and therefore kept a genuine atmosphere.

It does include a small entrance room, a living-room, a bedroom, a large kitchen and a bathroom with a shower.

The flat is located nearby the civil hospital from Venise (just separated by the Rio dei Mendicanti canal) with its police station,

and:

- at 100 m from the San Giovanni and Paolo gothic Church (something like a would-be venitian Westminster);

- at 100 m from the church Santa Maria dei Miracoli;

- 10 minutes walk to Saint Mark Square and to the Rialto bridge.

The nearest vaporetti stations are Cà d'Oro on the Canal Grande and Fondamente Nove. It is therefore quite easy to reach with 2 vaporetti each hour connecting the airport to Fondamente Nove in 40 minutes or from the train station with vaporetti lines n°42 and 52.

There are several guide books on Venice - Eyewitness, Michelin, etc... as well as a short selection of movies and documentaries on the lagoon city.

The North East Italy region

Veneto, which is the Venice region, is stretching from the Adriatic sea to the Dolomites, including many of Italy's nicest cities, such as Padua (with Europe's second oldest university from which observatory Galileo discovered Saturn's rings), Vicenza, often called mainland's Venice, Palladio's someplace (the architect who inspired Georgian architecture in Britain, Ireland and the US), Verona and its Roman arena, Treviso, Asolo, etc. the list is almost endless.

It has been an economic power house since the Roman times. Charlemagne settled an agreement with the Byzantines to make of Venice a free-trade area, the basis of its successive fortune. It is just enough to check that 5 plays of Shakespeare - out of the 38 he wrote - are occurring in Veneto - namely Othello, The Merchant of Venice, Two gentlemen of Verona, Romeo and Juliet, the Twelth Night - and the fact that his main rival Ben Johnson most famous drama, "Mosca", is based in Venice, does just underline the importance of Venice and Veneto as a center of civilization with a strong influence in Britain and the rest of Europe. Actually, double entry accounting, i.e. the foundation of modern accounting standards, was invented by a Venetian in 1492, just as Colombus was discovering America. Venice and Veneto cultural influence was so strong it even marked far away countries, like South India - which coinage was based on the Venetian ducat, and China, as Marco Polo, a Venetian trader, related his trip and long sojourn in Cathay in the Million Book, which became a best-seller in the Middle Ages.

Venice, Veneto

It is hard to get out of the beaten paths in order to present Venice, which is as much a component of the European civilization as are London or Paris. The city is probably the largest and best preserved old town in Europe.
