The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region

Sightseeing is endless; The nearest places of interest are the old town of Vence; the Matisse chapel in Vence; the art galleries of St Paul de Vence; the pretty village of Tourettes-sur-Loup; the perched village of Gourdon; the town and perfumeries of Grasse; the city and “Promenade des Anglais” of Nice; the port of Nice; the beaches and old town of Antibes; the “Croisette” and town of Cannes; the village and glass makers of Biot; the marine park at Marineland near Antibes.

Other entertainment includes exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside and views, cinema, wine tasting, the many art galleries, watching the French ‘joie de vivre’ and boules in the square.

Vence

Vence is an artist’s town and along with its equally well-known neighbouring town of Saint Paul de Vence, is situated amidst the beautiful hilly scenery to the west of Nice.

It has drawn artists both well known and amateur, and a special attraction is “Matisse’s Chapel”, just a short walking distance from the beautiful old-town. Another is the “Chagall painting” in the Cathedral.

There is a wide range of shops, restaurants, boulangeries and markets in the town centre of Vence and Villa Lavande is situated approximately 2.5 km away. It is possible to walk from the villa to the town, which takes approx 30 minutes via a shortcut (please note: this route is unlit and uphill on the return). There is also a 3-screen cinema in the town.

The Mediterranean towns of Nice, Antibes and Cannes are all close by where you can enjoy a day on the beach, or visit the ports.

Tennis, golf, equitation, and water sports are all nearby, as well as a local outdoor swimming pool from May - Sept.

With its close proximity to the surrounding hilly countryside, the villa is an ideal base for those who enjoy the outdoors, walking and cycling. The region is also well served by ski-stations in the winter, some of which can be reached within an hours drive.

The villa is within easy reach of Nice International Airport and all that the Cote d’Azur has to offer.

"Delighted with our vacation rental"

Even though the rental house was a good walk from the town the benefits definitely outweighed the tough uphill walk. The location was peaceful, cooler in the high terrain, beautiful views and excellent decor of the house.

I would highly recommend this rental to others

"Stunning views and a peaceful, relaxed ambience that will resonate for years"

The owner was very accommodating, helpful and friendly and gave us a lovely welcome. The property was perfect for our needs and the location ideal. It was comfortable with all the facilities we needed and tremendous views across the hills to the sea. At night the lights shone from the surrounding properties like stars caught in the trees - and the view from upstairs was like being in an aeroplane descending to Nice airport with magical lights below.
It was easy to get to the local sights and see the cote d'azur from coast to gorge by car.
All in all it was a charming villa and a very relaxing stay.
