This huge, historic 4 bedroom townhouse, right in the old town of Vence is set over 4 levels and has private garaging, plus a roof terrace with spectacular views over the surrounding hills! Located on a picturesque street, it’s within easy walking distance of the main square, church, marketplace and many shops & restaurants and is brimming with original character like high beamed-ceilings and lovely old floors.
Deceptively spacious, it comprises a large entrance hall, well-equipped kitchen, spacious living room, four very large bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom and WC, a fabulous roof terrace, and underground garaging for two cars. Thick stone walls keep it lovely and cool in summer and full double-glazing provides excellent sound insulation for the town centre.
The owner also makes this property available to rent with just the 2 or 3 bedrooms, by simply closing off those not required – however you still have exclusivity and use of the rest of the house (please see our price table for rates).
The town of Vence is one of my favourites; it’s happening there all-year-round and it’s conveniently located to reach the surrounding towns and villages of St Paul-de-Vence, St Jeannet, Grasse, Cagnes-sur-Mer & Nice. The bus system is excellent and a car is not really required from here.
The house has a maximum occupancy of 8 people (plus babies) and would be perfect for two small families, or a large group of friends holidaying together.

Living room: it's huge, with high beamed ceilings and lots of furniture including sofas, dining table & 6 chairs, another table and chairs, all set around a working fireplace. Hi-fi and internet are available, but please note there's no TV.
Kitchen: very modern and well-equipped with marble countertops and good quality appliances. Large stainless steel oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, Smeg fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle & coffee machine. Washing machine, dryer, iron & ironing board are within a cupboard. There's also a breakfast bar and 2 stools.
Bedrooms: four in total, all very large and with their own en-suite bathroom. The master bedroom (yellow) on 1st floor - with double bed, antique chairs, ceiling fan, lovely views and bathroom through an archway. Second bedroom (blue and yellow) on same floor - furnished with single bed, plus a sofa (which folds down to make double bed), corner office, wardrobe and bathroom through archway. Third bedroom (pink headboard) on 2nd floor - with double bed, small wardrobe, superb views over hills beyond and bathroom open to the bedroom. Fourth bedroom (white) also on 2nd floor – with double bed, small armoire, 2 chairs and en-suite shower room.
Bathrooms: four bathrooms and 1 independent WC. The master bedroom has corner bath, WC, washbasin and fitted wardrobes. Second bedroom - with Jacuzzi bath, washbasin and WC. Third bedroom with Jacuzzi bath, grandiose washbasin and a WC. Fourth bedroom with shower cubicle, washbasin and WC. Also an independent WC on ground floor level. Hairdryer available.
Other rooms: the front door opens into a large entrance room, with fireplace and a door leading down to garaging.

Outside: on the top (3rd) floor there's a superb terrace furnished with table & 10 chairs, plus a small electric bbq and drinks fridge – a place to truly enjoy the superb views over the surrounding hills. In the basement there's the huge garage with space for 2 small cars (or one large) with stair access direct into house.
Swimming pool: not available here, but there are 2 outdoor municipal pools in the town (open May to Sept).

Sightseeing is endless; the nearest places of interest are the village & art galleries of St Paul-de-Vence; the Old Town of Vence; the Matisse Chapel in Vence; the nearby medieval town of Haut-de-Cagnes; the pretty village of Tourettes-sur-Loup; the perched village and views from Gourdon; the town and perfumeries of Grasse; the city and “Promenade des Anglais” of Nice; the port of Nice; the beaches and old town of Antibes; the village and glass makers of Biot;
Other entertainment includes exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside and views, cinema, wine tasting, the many art galleries, Aquasplash & Marineland in Biot, ‘Ludi Park’ of activities (ideal for families).
Local shops, boulangeries & restaurants can be found just 100 metres away, amongst the windy streets of the old town. Supermarkets can also be accessed about 200 metres away in the town centre. Lesser well-known than the famous neighbouring village St Paul, the town of Vence is less touristy and more of a real French town, open all year round. The lovely old town has specialist shops for wine, delicatessens, fromageries, patisseries and art galleries.
Local markets are held in the main square & old town of Vence. Here you can choose from wonderful displays of olives, cheese, fish, vegetables and flowers.
Sporting activities in the area are abundant – there is golf, tennis, fishing, canoeing, horse riding, paragliding, water sports and the beach. You are also in very close proximity to the mountains and hills of the Alpes Maritimes region here, which makes walking and cycling very popular.
Beaches and a lovely promenade can be found closeby at Cagnes-sur-Mer (12km) and also right along the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. There are also 2 municipal outdoor swimming pools just 5 minutes’ walk away in the town, open from May to September.
The ski stations of Greolieres, Valberg, Isola 2000 and Auron are between 1-2 hour’s drive away if you fancy a couple of day’s winter sports!
Getting around, there’s a good bus service from Vence town centre towards St Paul-de-Vence, Cagnes-sur-Mer, the airport and Nice. The nearest train station is at Cagnes-sur-Mer and this provides an excellent service along the coast. A car is not really required here.
