About this location

The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region

The Mediterranean beaches of Nice, Antibes and Cannes are close by. Tennis, golf and other sports facilities are nearby, as well as a local outdoor swimming pool from May - Sept. With its close proximity to the hilly countryside, this makes the apartment an ideal base for those who enjoy the outdoors, walking and cycling.

Within easy reach of Nice, its international airport and all that the Cote d’Azur has to offer.

Vence

Vence is an artist’s town and along with its equally well-known neighbouring town of Saint Paul de Vence, is situated amidst the beautiful hilly scenery west of Nice.

It has drawn artists both well known and amateur, and a special attraction is Matisse’s Chapel, a short walking distance from the old town. Another is the Chagall painting in the Cathedral.

There is a wide range of shops, restaurants and markets in the historical old part of the town, and the apartment is situated adjacent.

"Well situated but spoilt by biting insects"

October not a good time to stay here. The lovely garden becomes home to masses of biting insects. Which means you can't sit out or even leave your windows open. Which means the apartment feels da… More

Hi there, thanks so much for providing a review. I'm so sorry once again you suffered from the insects in the garden. As mentioned it was unusually wet early October this year and in conjunction with the continuing warm weather it made the insects quite prevalent. The owners inform me they're working on treating the garden for next year. I hope you otherwise managed to enjoy the charming apartment, it's great location, the lovely owners/caretaker and the professional booking service we provided.

"The Old Savonnerie 3 - a lovely and bright apt in Vence in a beautiful and private setting."

I enjoyed many things about my stay in The Old Savonnerie 3. I especially loved the uniqueness of the grounds. Lots of little garden areas and patios. The grounds felt open and inviting but private at the same time. Our apt was cozy and bright. Every morning I opened the windows and shutters to let in the beautiful southern air. The view from my bedroom looked down into the valley. Although, we didn't have time to use the outdoor lounge area beside the laundry room it looked gorgeous in the evenings with candles and a fireplace. There is also an area to play boules and when I arrived I had vowed I would have a throw or two but unfortunately with all the touring around we did by car in that area, I ran out of time. Easy short walk up to the centre of the village. A grocery store in the next street. The kitchen was well supplied with dishes etc and a gas stove etc. I was very impressed with how spotless and clean the apt was. The owners are friendly and hospitable. My only regret is that I came in October and not earlier as I would have loved spending more time lounging in the garden in the sun! Maybe next time!
