The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region
The French Riviera is all about the good life, but you don't have to be a millionaire to hire a lounger at a beach club. For a more down-to-earth trip, you can explore coastal paths, unspoiled islands and historic towns.
Vieux Niche – Nice's old town – is a mellow rabbit-warren of alleys that has scarcely changed since the 1700s. In the morning it teems with shoppers at the market square, Cours Saleya. In the afternoon, visitors stroll along the boutique-lined alleyways, admiring the Baroque heritage (check out the 17th-century Palais Lascaris) and lapping up ice creams.
Monaco: The world's second smallest country, is more about skyscrapers, yachts and unabashed hedonism than historic sights, although there are some fine Belle Époque buildings, including the marble-and-gold Casino. For some uniquely Monégasque experiences, witness the daily changing of the palace guard at 11.55am and dress up for a game of blackjack at the Casino.
Antibes: The covered market (Marché Provençal) offers fresh products every morning except Monday. It is a magnificent selection of meat, fish, cheese and vegetables. You will find the market close to the harbour.
With its boat-decked port, 16th-century ramparts and narrow cobblestone streets festooned with flowers, lovely Antibes is the quintessential Mediterranean town. It's home to the Musée Picasso, and the historic quarter, Vieil Antibes, which has a pleasant mix of shops and restaurants.
Cannes: Cannes is a great tourist destination and host of the annual Cannes Film Festival. Famous for its luxury shops, beaches, restaurants, and hotels.
Saint-Paul-de-Vence: One of the oldest medieval towns on the French Riviera, it is well known for its modern and contemporary art museums and galleries such as Fondation Maeght which is located nearby.
Vence, "City of Art", is a lovely town sitting in the fresh air of the hills only a few km from Nice and Antibes. The town is full of flowers and, in the area around the town, aromatic flowers, olives and colorful orange trees are cultivated.
Flower markets, vegetables, secondhand markets are one of the tourist attractions of the city of Vence. They are a must for one who wants to feel the character and the authenticity of the city.
- Flower markets, fruit and vegetables by local producers : every day from 9am to 1pm – Place du Grand Jardin
- Antique and second hand book market : Wednesdays from 8am to 2pm - Place du Grand Jardin
- Tuesday market from 9am to 1pm Historic City
- Pays Vençois market : Fridays from 9am to 1pm – Historic City and Place du Grand Jardin
There are many restaurants, covering most cuisines.
La Vieille Ville, the historic part of Vence, is encased behind stone walls inside a thriving modern market town and dates from the 15th century.
Within the historic village, a medieval walled village, there are numerous interesting sights and monuments.
The Peyra Gate was remodelled in 1810.
The cathedral was built in the 4th century on the site of a Roman temple. The stone of the western façade dates from 239. Another, on the right, was engraved in December 220. A chapel in the cathedral has a mosaic by Marc Chagall, dated 1911. The rue des Portiques is a section of the old Roman road.
The town has a small chapel, up above the Cité Historique Chapelle du Rosaire (1948, completed in 1951), decorated with stained glass and other fittings by Henri Matisse.
The “Nuits du Sud" is a major summer event, the Festival presents a program combining diversity, and a high musical quality.
Offering evening concerts, and in the daytime a number of other events.
Pleasure and enjoyment are guaranteed between the international musicians and the thousands of music lovers gathered together for five weeks of unforgettable moments.

Vence is famous for its spring water, which can be collected from numerous fountains in the town.

"Relaxed, homely, clean and a fabulous pool!"
The accommodation is lovely, clean and comfortable. You will find all that you need and anything missing the friendly helpful owners are more than willing to help you with. Holidaying here feels like home from home with nice little touches. The pool is wonderful and suits all ages. It is great lit up for a night swim. It is an excellent place for children with plenty nearby to do in the surrounding areas. Thoroughly recommend it. We will be visiting again!
