Home description

Renovated to a high standard with original features, the rooms are large and spacious. There are two double bedrooms with small balconies where you can sit and watch the world go by. A single bed is also available in a separate area of the house. There is a breakfast patio area leading off from the dining room and a large private and secluded sun bathing roof terrace. The lounge is on the third floor and has a large wood burner, TV & satellite with DVD player, two large comfortable sofas and great views of the surrounding countryside. the kitchen is well equipped with a fridge freezer, washing machine, microwave and cooker. The oven is electric and the hob is gas. The bathroom is spacious with a fitted bath and shower. The dining room is well equipped with a large table suitable for six people dining. Dual system air-con is installed for summer and winter months on the second floor.

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

Benamargosa is a typical white washed Andalucian village just 10 miles (16km) from the resort of Torre Del Mar and only 38 miles (48km) from Malaga airport.

The village is set in a valley of orange, lemon and avocado trees by the side of the river of the same name, and although only having a population of about 1500, has everything to make a holiday in the "Real Spain." Within a short distance are the hilltop villages of Cutar and Comares (which also has its own pool). Panoramas of the striking landscape can be seen from these viewpoints of the Sierras down to the Costa del Sol.
A few kilometers inland finds Lake Vinuela, where there is fishing and sailing. The villages around the lake - Vinuela, Alcaucin, and Periana - are also worth exploring, and there are breathtaking drives into the sierras which reach over 2000m (6000 feet).



Velez Malaga / Benamargosa area

The Arabian fortress town of Velez-Malaga, a short distance away, is steeped in tradition and has a bustling shopping area.

Not too far away along the coast is the resort of Nerja, with its famous caves and "Balcon de Europa", and the historic hillside village of Frigiliana with spectacular views back down to the sea.

During Easter the village has a festival Semana Santa and a larger procession with floats is held in Velez Malaga.

There are many festivals throughout the year.


How to get there

Fly to Malaga airport then hire a car and drive towards Torre Del Mar / Nerja on the N340, the village is approximately 40 minutes from Malaga airport on a very straight forward motorway.

Benamargosa is only 20 minutes inland from the nearest beach resort of Torre Del Mar. The nearest large town is Velez Malaga. Lake Vinuela is a 15 minute drive from the village.
Nerja which is a lovely old town is 25 minutes away. All local beaches can be reached within 20 minutes.

Both bedrooms have wardrobes, a dressing table, bedside cabinets and chest of drawers. There are ceiling fans above the beds for extra comfort in the summer months. There is also airconditioning on this floor which filters into the bedrooms.

Lounge area has a large wood burning stove for the winter months where you can cook pizzas and jacket potatoes in the top part of the stove.


Further details outdoors:
There is a superb municipal swimming pool with a children's pool and two bars open from beginning of July to to 31st August.

Parking is not available outside the house due to the narrow streets but cars can be parked nearby in the plaza or the side roads. Cars can be driven up to the house and unloaded.

Two supermarkets, three banks two with cash point facilities, post office, numerous bars and places to eat or enjoy a coffee. There is a superb medical centre and Chemist in the village, a weekly market and many small shops. The village has plenty of character and is very friendly. This will be a real taste of Spanish life but still within easy reach of the tourist towns of Nerja and Torre Del Mar.
