About the home

This south facing villa is set among peaceful slopes overlooking the beautiful white-washed village of Arenas.
The villa is spacious, with a well furnished large lounge / dining area and a fully fitted kitchen, both with high ceilings and exposed beams. There are two bedrooms ( one king size, one twin ) two comfortable leather settee's in the lounge area
Outside there is a private swimming pool and Jacuzzi which is prefect for sitting in at night watching the stars , the garden has two patio areas and a shaded area. The Barbecue and comfortable garden furniture make it perfect for dining outdoors during the long summer evenings.
The beach of Torre del Mar is only 15 minutes drive away and for those who like walking the rolling hills of the Sierra Tejeda are on your doorstep. The villa is ideal for walkers , birdwatchers , artists or those who simply want a stress- free holiday soaking up the sun

The owners live very close in the village of Arenas should any assistance be required.
You will be met on arrival and taken to your villa
The owners are happy to arrange any booking for activities you may require.
The Villa is up a 1km track, steep in places but the views are stunning
Arrangements can be made for a luxury meal to be cooked at the villa

Conditions

1. We do not ask for a breakage deposit We ask if you break something then please replace it.
2. guests are requested to vacate the villa by 11.00 am on the day of departure, if no new guests are arriving that day then arrangements with the owner can be made for later departures. Occupancy from 4 pm.
3. It is recommended that you have full and sufficient travel, accident, injury, and medical insurance, Casa Mariposa accepts no liability for injury, damage, loss, vexation, distress, disappointment or irregularities suffered by the guest. Luggage and valuables are the guests responsibility at all times.
4. Children should be supervised when using the pool or Jacuzzi

The Costa del Sol region

This area in Andaluicia is in the province of Malaga, with the stunning Mountains and wonderful coastline.
It is not over-crowded by tourisam.The local resort of Torre del Mar is 15 minutes drive where the beach is unspoit and there are many restaurantes and beach cafes. There are many white- washed villages which are steeped in history .
The very pretty resort of Nerja is 20 minute drive away where you will find the famous caves which are a must for any visitor .
Granada is reached in 1.5 hours with the Alhambra Palace ( tickets for this need to be booked in advance which the owners are happy to do at the time of booking your holiday ) and the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada are only 1.5 hours away

The Velez Malaga / Arenas area

Arenas is a maze of narrow streets with many fountains and squares where you can sit and admire the traditional Moorish-style architecture The horse and mule are still common sights in this typical Spanish village, which has not been affected by the passing of time.
There is a bank with cash point, a chemist and many little shops ( although some of these appear to be in people's front rooms you will need to be brave and pull back the curtain and say hola ). Arenas has restaurants and many bars, where the locals always offer a friendly welcome.
Arenas is at the foot of Bentomiz mountain at the top of which are the remains of a roman fortress.
Velez Malaga is 10 km from Arenas and is the capital of Axarquia. it is an old market town. The Fortaleza is well worth a visit built in the 13 century it still stands as a symbol of the Moorish civilisation of Velez Malaga.
There are several 13 /14 century churches in the old town, and many shops and restaurants also a large air conditioned shopping centre for when the heat of the day is too much.

Fly to Malaga ---- 45 minutes drive from airport
most of the budget airlines fly into malaga from all over the UK.
Granada Airport is 1.5 hours drive from the villa. Also served by Budget Airline Ryan Air
Car Hire---- www.carjet.com is a very good company as it will find you the best deal at that time.
Airport collection and returns can be arranged also arrangements can be made for the use of a 4x4 jeep.
A 4x4 vehicle makes light work of the track, but ordinary cars can get up and down the tracks okay. The cars most popular with guests have been a ford Focus, seat and peugot. a minimum of a 1.6 engine is recommended. In this part of Andalucia we have lots of old roman roads and these are not usually covered in tarmac

“Peaceful & secluded location for a relaxing holiday” After quite a drive up the steep hillside negotiating hairpin bends the villa was an oasis of peace and tranquility. Everything you could want for self-catering with the bonus not only of your own pool but a hot tub too. Ann and Simon were on hand for any advice or emergency but left you alone if that was what you wanted - perfect! We would advise a big shop at the supermarket before you arrive as you may not want to leave for a few days. We thoroughly enjoyed our week here and will definitely put it on our list of places we wish to return to in the future.

1. Payment of 20% which is non refundable should be made when confirming the booking and must be received within 10 working days and the remainder 6 weeks prior to the arrival date.

2. If booking less than 6 weeks prior to arrival payment should be made in full

3. Reduce rates for bookings of 3 weeks or more

4.A deposit against damage of 150 GBP must be paid into the UK Bank prior to arrival . This will be returned on the day of departure via internet banking.

5. A fee of 40 Euros is payable for the end of stay clean.
