About the home

Come and experience a truly authentic Spanish holiday in the beautiful village of Algarrobo. Only 5 minutes drive to the beach, 1 mile to the motorway and half an hour to Malaga Airport. The olympic size municipal pool is only a few minutes walk away and has shaded grassy areas and a snack bar. Open from June to mid September.

Really soak up part of Spanish life by staying in a traditional Spanish village still far removed from the hustle and bustle of modern day life. We have a cosy wood beamed village house renovated to a high standard, with a beautiful roof terrace offering wonderful views across the village to the sea. An ideal place to dine, sunbathe, watch romantic sunsets or just chill and plan your day.

The house makes an ideal base for the mountains or the beach, being a 20 minute drive to the 4000 Hectare Sierra de Tejeda National Park and only a 5 minute drive to the beach and Caleta Marina. Golf courses within easy driving distance. Good base for Paragliders, cyclists, walkers, horse riding, fishing or just to relax.

AIRPORT PICK UP AND DROP OFF AVAILABLE FOR 80 EUROS. NOT ESSENTIAL TO HAVE A HIRE CAR AS THERE IS A GOOD BUS SERVICE TO THE COAST WHICH IS ONLY 4KM AWAY. WE ALSO SUPPLY MOUNTAIN BIKES TO ENJOY A VIRTUALLY LEVEL ROUTE TO THE COAST AND SUPERMARKETS.

Owners happy to take guests, without a car, once a week to Lidls or Mercadona Supermarkets to stock up with supplies.

The house is spread over three floors with a beautiful interior courtyard that leads downstairs to the bathroom and one twin bedroom. The entrance leads to the second twin bedroom and the double bedroom. There are stairs up to the first floor where the open-plan kitchen, dining room and lounge are located with a balcony overlooking the street. The last stairs lead you up to a beautiful roof terrace with views across the village to the sea where there is a dining table and chairs plus comfortable patio furniture. There is also a shower room with toilet. DIgital TV with some English channels.

The sunsets at anytime of year are superb and a barbecue is provided for the warm summer nights.

There is also a DVD library consisting of over 20 up to date films for those odd nights away from the bars!!!

Although the house does not have its own parking space, there is a place to park and unload luggage and groceries etc. There is plenty of parking at either end of the village being only a few minutes walk to the house.

Due to the stairs we would not think the property suitable for the disabled or very young children.
The village pool is open from June to September.
The english speaking owners or their representatives are always on hand..

Bookings - we require one third of the rental fee on booking to secure the holiday and the balance is due six weeks before your stay .
Due to the three flights of stairs we suggest that the property may not be suitable for very small children or elderly people with limited mobility.

The Costa Del Sol is a beautiful holiday location, boasting 320 days of sunshine a year. With an array of acitivities to keep all the family happy, horse-riding, tennis, hiking, golf, cycling, fishing or just lazing on the many miles of clean sandy beaches. Restaurants and bars are in abundance plus some breathtaking drives up in to the Sierras for the adventurous.

The Velez Malaga / Algarrobo Pueblo area

Algarrobo Pueblo is on the Sun and Wine Route which passes through Sayalonga, Competa and Torrox Villages. The nearest town is Torre Del Mar with Nerja only 15 km away , where all the usual costal amenities including nightclubs etc can be found. Malaga Airport an easy 30 minute drive.
Algarrobo pueblo itself has several good restaurants, bars, supermarkets, small shops and a bank.
Bavaria Golf and Anoretta Golf are both close by. The picturesque Puerto de Caleta, (Caleta Harbour) is only a few minutes drive away, where we can arrange day trips on a motor cruiser with lunch so you can enjoy the stunning views of Caleta and the mountain of Maromar from the Mediterranean.

Algarrobo village has a large tropical park located next to the public swimming pool and tennis courts. The church of Santa Ana dates from 1505 although the current building was built in the 17th century.

The village is well positioned to enable guests to enjoy the attractions of the Mediterranean sea, the mountains and beautiful countryside making it an ideal destination for walkers, lovers of wildlife and those who wish to sample a typical Spanish white village.

Algarrobo Pueblo is located 37 km East of Malaga.
Easy-Jet and Flybe are the best budget airlines to Malaga. Flying from London, Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Exeter etc.
Brittany Ferries sail from Plymouth to Santander in the North of Spain, 12 hours drive from Malaga.
P&O Ferries sail from Portsmouth to Bilbao in the North of Spain, 12 hours drive from Malaga.
There are plenty of car hire companies located at Malaga airport, remember to book before you arrive as it is always considerably cheaper.
Taxis are located outside arrivals and the price to Algarrobo is in the region of £40 - £50.00.

“A taste of real Spain” We stayed here for 16 nights and loved the house and the village. This is the Spanish equivalent of a quaint higgledy piggledy English cottage. The layout is unusual and there are a lot of curving stairs making it unsuitable for anyone with problems climbing stairs. The roof terrace and balcony mean it is probably not suitable for very small children (as per the owners description on the web site) The owners were very welcoming and friendly. This ancient village house has been lovingly restored by the present owners giving an authentic Spanish feel to living in an authentic Spanish village.

“Great property in a great little Town” Holidaying only very infrequently over the past twenty years, and only been to mainland Spain only once ever, the vacation was important to us. Especially important to us was the location, that is the property and its location as we were a party of 6 with 3 generations included. We couldn't have wished for a better combination of all the various parts that make up a holiday. Firstly, we must say that if the stereotypical touristy 'English' holiday in Spain with full English, Fish and chips, and pints of bitter, is your thing, then click on further down the list of places, as this is definitely NOT for you!! We arrived late on the Friday night at Malaga and were helped out by a really efficient transfer agent - Transfersdesol - brilliant. The mini bus that took us was too big for the streets of Algarobbo, so we had to walk a little, but a quick phone call to Lena the owner and all was well. A quick tour of the 3/4 storeys and she pointed us in the direction of the nearest bar for food and drink, this at 11pm. From that moment on the whole experience was fantastic. Algarobbo is simply a wonderful place, where there are no other tourists and no-one, but no-one speaks English, which was great as we got to know lots of locals and were welcomed with help and smiles everywhere we went, despite our 'Biarritz phrase book Spanish'. Breakfast on the wonderful terrace every morning after going to the small supermarket for fresh bread, ham and cheese - all dead cheap!! Then to the beach by bus, also dead cheap, which was about three miles away. One great feature was the municipal swimming pool which cost just over a Euro from 15.00 to 20.00 all day in the week- brilliant 25metre pool which rarely got that busy, with a bar/snackbar as well. The property had everything we wanted, it was clean and quite cool despite no airco. There was a nice shower on the terrace, which was handy when the temperatures climbed in the late afternoon. We called Lena a couple of times during the week and she was always happy to help. The property adjoins a residence belonging to a guitar player, so we were treated to flamenco music and singing til the small hours some nights, but it just seemed a normal thing to do, and as there are few or no tourists, it was just part of life there. All in all a great holiday and one we are loathe to recommend too highly as we wouldn't like to see the place get too popular!
