Located in the old quarter of Velez de Benaudalla this sympathetically renovated traditional village house maintains original features which provide both authentic & comfortable living. Originally two houses, the accommodation provides ample space for an enjoyable holiday for four - six people.

Ground floor consists of lounge, with open log fire. Doors lead to a small enclosed courtyard. Stairs lead to the first floor, where you will find a double bedroom, family bathroom, large kitchen/diner with pitched and beamed ceilings plus a further lounge/day room.

An unusual and charming feature of this property is the ground floor double bedroom with en suite shower room. Formerly a stable, it retains it's original Andalucian doors & is reached by taking just a couple of paces across the courtyard from the lounge, giving complete privacy to the occupants.

A further staircase leads from the kitchen to the roof terrace, from which there are stunning views over the village of Velez & down the valley towards the coast. Views to the North provide a panorama of snow capped mountains in early and late season. Al fresco dining is a pleasure both in the hot daytime (large sun parasol provided) and also on balmy evenings when the flood lit 500 year old Moorish castle looks down over the terrace providing a picturesque & romantic setting.

The cot is available for use in any preferred room.

Having had my grand children visiting we consider the house suitable for young children but would draw our customer's attention to the tiled floors and stairs.

The Andalucia region

The Costa Tropical area remains unspoilt and benefits from a diversity of landscapes. Along the coastal stretch there are many lovely beaches, with larger ones at the main towns providing water sports, ample restaurants and bars. A short drive will find smaller bays with uncrowded beaches.

Take a 30 minute drive inland and you are in mountain country, ideal for walking, treking and climbing. Explore the pretty stone villages of the Alpujarras mountains or visit the Sierra Nevada ski resort. It is said that this is one of the few places where you can ski in the morning and then walk along a sunkissed beach in the afternoon. For history and culture do no more than visit the city of Granada home to the spectacular Alhambra Palace.

Protected by the Sierra Nevada mountains the Costa Tropical has its own micro climate which produces year round sun and warmth. Melt water from the sierras provides good land irrigation making this one of the greenest parts of Southern Spain.

Velez De Benaudalla

Velez is situated in the foothills of the Alpujarras mountains and although only a 15 minute drive from the coast and larger towns, is a sleepy, traditional Spanish treasure. With a population of approx 3000 it has all the facilities you need close to hand including, small supermarkets, several bakeries, banks, a pharmacy, doctors, dentists and a variety of other shops. There is also a number of charming & traditional Tapas bars. A regular bus service runs to both Granada and Motril.

There is a municiple swimming pool and childrens play areas as well as riverside walks. The renovated Nazri gardens are well worth a visit as are the 15th century castle and the village church.

You could not be better situated to explore the Costa Tropical area, the Sierra Nevada and Alpujarras mountains and inland Granada province than you are in Velez de Benaudalla.

"We had a very good stay here"

Four of us spent 5D/4N at this place. It's a quaint little house located in a narrow alley typical of Spanish villages. It's cozy and very we'll stocked as far as a self catering accommodation is concerned. There was everything you would need.
The village has an authentic Spanish feel which was the reason we chose this village, but at the same time is not isolated. It's only half an hour to Granada and right at the foot of the Sierra Nevada.
There is parking although you'll have to walk about 150 metres up a rather steep slope. Perhaps not so suitable for those with mobility problems.
