This large, spacious village house overlooks the beautiful countryside with far reaching views to the fabulous Mayenne forest. We are near to the bar/shop, you can nip over the road for your fresh breakfast croisants! There are tennis courts close by and ample parking opposite the house . With 3 large double bedrooms it is ideal for families or groups of friends. Blue Shutters is ideally situated for visiting the regions many chateaux and towns of interest. A large selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars are to be found in nearby Ernee, Fougeres and Mayenne. Lots of pretty villages with cafes and bars in the surrounding area. Try the riverside Creperie in Chailland for lunch, this is a village just 11km away, a nice gentle bike ride, and a delicious lunch when you get there. There are some beautiful beaches along the Brittany coast, all within easy reach. There are also 2 lakes, Sille and Chapel Erbree with beaches and water sports and the Mayenne river all within easy reach of approx 30 mins drive. The Mayenne river boasts approx 80km of cycle track. Le Mans is a short drive and there you can visit the fabulous walled city , some parts of it date back to Roman times. The motor museum at the Le Mans race track is also worth a visit . The area is perfect for walking or cycling and fishing is also available. At the end of a fun packed day relax in the courtyard garden with a chilled glass of wine.

The Loire Valley / Mayenne region
There are many beautiful chateaux and towns in the area for you to visit .Mayenne is only 16km from Vautorte and has some magificent architecture overlooking the magical Mayenne river and is great for shopping, restaurant and cafes. The chateau here is well worth a vist too. Just 15 mins further on from Mayenne is Jublains the most prominent Roman site in western France. Take a visit to the baths, fort, temple and theatre. Fougere is 29km and again is full of character with what is believed to be the oldest medieval chateau in France dominating the town. There are some wonderful restaurants here by the chateau courtyard our favourite is just up the hill on the left called Les Ramparts, it overlooks the castle walls. St Michaels mount is only 82km and well worth a visit for a day. You can access the mount via a causeway, the winding streets take you up to the abbey at the very pinacle of the mount. The views from here are outstanding, the rushing tides fascinating to watch. Lots of quaint cafes and bars and souvenir shops. St Malo is also nearby and is the nearest beach resort, fabulous beaches, pools and water sports. Lots of history here as well. In the other direction ( west of Mayenne) is Le Mans, famous for motor racing, visit the motor museum and take a drive around the race track,some of it is public roads! Both Mayenne and Fougere hold weekly markets and outdoor concerts and musical entertainment throughout the summer. Bagnoles de l'Orne is about an hour away and is a beautiful spa town, reminiscent of an old Victorian holiday resort, again lots to see and do, a large variety of cafes, restaurants and bars. Well known for its spa treatments and casino beside the lake.
Vautorte area
Vautorte is a very rural area, with a predominately farming community. The countryside surrounds you and the Mayenne forest is on your door step. An ideal spot for picnics, walking and cycling, There is a lake near to the little village chateau. Ernee is the nearest town (6km) here you will find shops, restaurants and cafes. Recommended is the "Table Normand" restaurant. Good fresh local produce and french cuisine to suit most taste buds and budgets. Also recommended is the "Coutancerie" which is on the main N13 route to Mayenne about a mile from the village. Tuesday is market day in Ernee, with fresh produce, bread, local cheeses etc. There are lots of villages in the surrounding area within walking or cycling distance. If you are still in the need of more to do after your busy day then there is a night club on the main road by the entrance to Vautorte. Open on Friday and Saturday nights.!

Further details indoors: The groundfloor is open plan consisting of large lounge area with wood burning stove, dining area and kitchen. From the kitchen there is a utility and storage room with downstairs W.C. Upstairs are the 3 bedrooms, 2 facing the front of the house with views across the village and surrounding country side to the forest. The third faces the garden at the back. All 3 rooms have double beds and 2 rooms have an extra sofa or chair bed. The shower/W.C. is brand new. There is electric heating throughout.
Further details outdoors: To the rear of the property is a courtyard garden with plenty of room to sit out for meals and to enjoy a glass of wine or two. Deck chairs, cycles and a hammock are available for you to use. Opposite the house is ample car parking. The bar, shop and tennis courts are all close by.

We do not provide bed linen or towels, however all the beds have mattress covers, 2 pillows and duvets. There are also some blankets. Details for obtaining the keys will be given at time of payment. Electric and water costs are included in the rates.

Strictly no smoking except in the courtyard. No pets, the owner is allergic.
25% of rental fee as deposit payable when booking. The remaining rental fee to be paid in full 6 weeks prior to your stay commencing.
