Varramista’s fame as the Piaggio’s (designers and manufacturers of the legendary Vespa scooter) country residence has grown in recent decades. The Villa is the current home of Donna Chiara Visconti di Modrone, daughter of Duchess Antonella Visconti di Modrone. With remarkable dedication and enthusiasm she promotes the quality and style Varramista wishes to represent in the world through its namesake wine and hospitality.

The residence is furnished according to the local tradition. It is also well equipped with every comfort and modern day facilities including satellite TV and the Internet. Our swimming pool accompanies every house.

The Tuscany region

Varramista’s extensive land (400 hectares) charged with artistic, natural and landscape beauty is located in the ancient heart of Tuscany, near cities of art and culture such as Pisa (30 km), Florence (60 Km), Siena (70 km), Lucca (40 Km), S. Gimignano (45 km), Volterra (45 km) and the magnificent Tyrrhenian beaches.

Varramista is located in an enviable geographical position, which enables it to be far away from mass tourism paths, but at the same time it is near the most beautiful cities in the world.

Varramista area

Montopoli in Val d'arno is central location in Tuscany. It is well linked to the most important cities of art through a new and efficient network of roads and highways, which ensure quick and easy travelling.
The town is the typical little countryside in tuscany, with shops, bar and restaurants. In july there is the Montopoli Wine Festival.

In summer there are several town festivals about food or historical/medieval or folkloristic evocations.

Shops Open Monday to Saturday: in winter 9.00-13.00 and 16.00-19.30, in summer 9.00am -1.00pm and 5.00pm-7.30pm.

The closest food shops are in Capanne (approx. 1 km right, direction Montopoli). You will find: delicatessen (alimentare), bakery (panetteria), butcher (macelleria), a fruit & vegetables shop (frutta e verdura), and a Pharmacy (farmacia) in Capanne(1 Km, turn right the direction Montopoli).
Supermarkets: you will find CONAD (hamlet Angelica-approx. 4 km right) open Monday to Saturday from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm. Closed on Sundays.

Follow directions to Capanne and then you will see the signs to CONAD (on the left). There are some bigger supermarkets in Pontedera (approx. 8-10 km left direction Pontedera). The closest one is on the main street (after 1st traffic light & before the 2nd one) on your left when you reach Pontedera and it is called “Centro Commerciale IL PONTE” – “PANORAMA”, it has a large supermarket and some small shops and boutiques.
It is open everyday from Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 9.00 pm. It is generally closed on Sundays.
Pontedera has also lots of shoes and clothes shops.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 4.00pm to 8.00 pm. And on Mondays from 4.00 pm to 8.00 pm. Usually closed on Sundays. They are in the centre on the main promenade (Corso Matteotti).
S.Croce: Saturday mornings
Pisa: Wednesday and Saturday morning
Lucca: Wednesday mornings
Palaia: Sunday afternoons June – Sept. (fruit & vegetables only)

Markets are held in all local towns once a week generally from 7.30 - 12.30 and there is one in each town once a week.
There are several stalls selling: shoes, clothes, bags, plants, toys, food, fruit&vegetables, etc.

Castelfranco di Sotto: Monday mornings
Fucecchio: Wednesday mornings
Ponte a Egola: Saturday mornings

How to get there

Varramista’s central location in Tuscany is very advantageous as the estate is well linked to the most important cities of art through a new and efficient network of roads and highways, which ensure quick and easy travelling.

By plane
The "Galileo Galilei" International Airport in Pisa and the "Amerigo Vespucci" Airport in Florence are little less than thirty minutes by car and they are both linked to the main European cities with daily flights.

By train
The Pontedera and San Romano-Montopoli-Santa Croce stations are nearby and ensure frequent links between the estate and the main Tuscan cities.

By car
To reach us from Pisa and Florence, take the clearway FI-PI-LI, exit at Monopoli Val d’Arno and follow the directions to Varramista right up to the Reception desk.

The house is furnished with air conditioning and heating in all rooms, a security alarm system, satellite TV/DVD and stereo, telephone /fax and ADSL connections. All bathrooms are equipped with a hair dryer.

Kitchen furnishings comprises of: cooker with electric oven, dish washer, microwave oven, large refrigerator, American coffee machine, toaster and electric kettle.

Further details outdoors:
There is a beautiful swimming-pool equipped with sun umbrellas, deck chairs and sun beds. Extensive outdoor space with garden tables and chairs, barbecue and 2 private parking areas.

- Minimum stay 1 week in July and August; minimum 2 days during other periods

- Terms of payment: 30% on confirmation of the booking, balance payment 30 days before arrival.

- Change of bed-linen for stays exceeding one week
- Final cleaning (if the apartment is left in order)
