Il Castelletto (house)

Home description

The house is set in the hills above the Ligurian Riviera with extensive views across the Val di Vara. We are located in a small village situated in Chestnut and Pine woods with plenty of walking and quiet driving around the country lanes. We are within easy reach of Cinque Terre, Pisa, Lucca, Portofino and even Florence.
The apartment has two double bedrooms (one double and one twin), lounge/dining room, fully fitted kitchen,
and bathroom. It is located on the ground floor and lets out onto a grassed terrace where we have table and chairs for eating out and a supply of sun loungers for your use. There is a barbeque with another table and chairs for you if you prefer to cook outside.

The North West Italy / Italian Riviera/Liguria region

Tuscany is the most wonderous of the regions of Italy, which is beautiful in the sun, and dramatic on the few rainy days. It is blessed with a mild climate and wonderful people, and glorious Italian food, of course. Visit Florence, absolutely stunning is an understatement - visit all the wonderful attrations , and what about the leaning tower at Pisa? As we are right on the border of Genoa, you have the benefit of visting all their attractions as well.

Varese Ligure area

In Varese Ligure, the nearest town, there is a live open air music festival during July and August which normally includes an opera performed in the circular piazza at the back of the town. In late August and September the local villages hold their 'festa' with al fresco dining and live music. During the summer months there is an open air swimming pool and a tennis court is available all year round.

For walkers and ramblers we can provide mapped routes with marked refreshment facilities all within easy distance of the house. Cinque Terre also provides ardent walkers with a challenging coastal path of some twelve kilometres, all with stunning scenery. For all walkers we suggest visiting during the period from October to April, as the months from May to September are normally too hot for such strenuous exercise.

With the peace and tranquility we can add extensive views across the Val di Vara which have already inspired guests to get out their water colours to capture the beauty and colour of the valley. The area has also recently been granted, by the EU, the very first ISO 14001 certificate merited by the cleanliness of the local environment and the organic farming practised in local hill farms. This local organic produce is available in the shops and restaurants of the area.

How to get there

Ryanair now offer direct flights to Pisa from Liverpool, Glasgow and Dublin as well as the scheduled service from Stanstead, all at very economic rates. Thompson Fly also offer services from Southampton, Coventry and Doncaster airports to Pisa.
