Taino together with the hamlet of Cheglio develops along the foothills or Lombard prealps hills where ends the great Padan plain and gradually becomes hilly territory and gradually climbs northward, contributes to the formation of the Alps. The village is located in the lower Verbano, i.e. on the Southeast shore of Lake Maggiore, which is really very few kilometres, in particular where the Lake, which is already beginning to change its morphology, terminate, and flows into the Ticino. Its territory is surrounded completely by two municipalities: Sesto Calende and Angera.
There are so many things you can see and do to whoever comes to visit this Lake: one of the main attractions are hiking in many small islands, which are very beautiful and attract the attention of many tourists not only in Italy. There are very small and large islands including 8 in Piemonte, 2 in Switzerland and only one in Lombardy, Italy, with a total of 11 Islands. The most famous are those islands Borromee, which are divided into Isola Bella, Isola Madre, Isola dei Pescatori or Isola Superiore, the Isolino di San Giovanni and the islet of Malghera. Then there are the islands of Brissago less known than are the island of St. Pancras or even big island and the island of Sant'Apollinare. The small archipelago of the Borromean islands lies between Between Stresa and Verbania; in front of the coast of Cannero Riviera there are three rocks emerged, called Castelli di Cannero — the rock, which is occupied by war artifact of Velan, a fortress that has been desired by count Ludwig Borromeo in 1518.
One of the most beautiful things to visit Lake Maggiore are also the many beautiful villas, such as the Palazzo Borromeo on the Isola Madre and Isola Bella, which are situated on two islands Borromee, representing the ancient Borromeo family residences on Lake Maggiore. Very nice Villa Ducale is located in Stresa City Centre, the Villa Faraggiana in Meina, who was a Zoological Museum and then transformed in the orphanage and convalescent home, the Villa Giulia di Verbania, which dates back to 1847, Stresa, Villa Pallavicino is now become a Zoological Park, and is one of the most beautiful of the whole Lake. Very beautiful Villa Ponti, a beautiful villa located in Arona, and Treves in Belgirate and Villa that also hosted Gabriele D'Annunzio and Giovanni Verga.
To visit the beautiful gardens and parks as The giardino botanico Alpinia above the town of Stresa, which offers a beautiful view over Lake Maggiore and the Borromean islands, the botanical gardens of Villa Taranto famous around the world, where you can admire a thousand plants, beautiful gardens of Isola Bella, which represents one of the greatest examples of baroque garden in Italyand the botanical gardens of Isola Madre, a beautiful English-style garden. In the part of the Lake in Switzerland, you can visit The Parco delle Camelie in Locarno, where inside there are more than 500 varieties of camellias.
To visit many museums, among which the most important are The Museo della ceramica in Laveno, The Museo Civico Archeologico in Sesto Calende, doll Museum to Angera, The Archaeological Paleontological Museum in Luino, archaeological museum in Arona and many others.Nice is also the Hermitage Santa Caterina del Sasso a Leggiuno, that it's really worth visiting; It is a monastery that was built on the rocky coast, which can be reached by a staircase that goes up from the Lake, and that dates back to the 14th century.
