About the home

The apartment offers top quality fixtures and fittings throughout and also entertains with the gorgeous panoramic views of the of the lake. The property has been designed to take full advantage of the lakes premier view of the 'Golden Triangle' (Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna).

The inside of the apartment is stylishly furnished and everything has been designed to maximise your enjoyment. The terrace is just the most wonderful place to enjoy the exclusive lake views and is also large enough to dine 'alfresco' and relax with a glass of Italian wine, with a large dining area and an additional lakefront eating area.

All rooms have flat screen HD TVs with SKY and DVD for your entertainment with the living room boasting a new 50” LCD TV with 180? swivel and tilt arm and a Blu Ray player with a collection of Blu Ray movies and Yamaha surround sound system with wall mounted speakers. There is a 32” HD TV to the front lake view double bedroom with Blu Ray player and a Blu Ray movie collection and a full HD TV to the back double bedroom. Both bedrooms have been beautifully furnished with a king-size bed and iPod player/alarm system. There is also a very stylish bathroom with a shower, bidet and WC. The apartment is fully air-conditioned and WIFI enabled with a comfortable double sofa bed to the lounge for additional guests and a fire and gas alarm with automatic gas turn off.

Varenna is home to Italy's shortest river, the Fiumelatte. Only 250 meters long, it rushes, frothy and milky-white (hence the name) down the rockface and crashes into the lake.

From the end of March to the end of October each year. And then it stops - just like that. Leonardo da Vinci climbed down to find out where the water came from. But neither he, nor anyone else, has ever been able to work it out.

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.

Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.

It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.

All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.

Warming, inspriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto
narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.

The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).

The Varenna / Fiumelatte area

Varenna, built on a rock at the foot of a mountain is a boat stop from Bellagio on the east side of the lake and though popular it escapes the throngs in Bellagio (undeniably lovely, but like many other undeniably lovely places the crowds, higher prices and ‘tourist trap’ experiences can be very trying). Varenna dates from the 5th century - you can still see in places the original Roman layout of the town: a geometric design which allows wonderful views of the lake. The reds, terracottas and yellows of its houses, its mild climate and the olive and cypress trees make you wonder whether you aren’t 200km further south.

Varenna is one of the most picturesque towns on the lake, its steep winding alleys lined with charming homes, flowering balconies and lace-curtained windows. Just above it is the ancient castle where Theodolinda, Queen of the Lombards, is said to have died in the 7th century. Two famed villas to visit here are Villa Cipressi, with terraced gardens cascading right down to the shores, and Villa Monastero, a true showcase.

Skiing in the area is bountiful; resorts such as Madesimo, only 1.15hr north of Colico and the local ski resort of Piani di Bobbio, only 40 mins away - http://www.pianidibobbio.com

Golf

There are Golf clubs around Lake Como: The Cadenabbia & Menaggio Golf Club celebrating 100 years this year and is Italy's oldest golf course. Established in 1907 with 18 holes Par 70, it is located above Menaggio near Croce, in Grandola ed Uniti, approx. 20 min. by car. Tel: +39 344 321 03. Green Fees: Weekdays EU 55, Weekends and Holidays EU 70 Euros; Golf Cart Rental EU 36.
Restaurant Golf at the club serves fantastic food and is well recommended.. Guests are always welcome, please call beforehand to check course rules. Golf Club Menaggio: (Menaggio Como).

There is also a first class Golf Course at Varesse for those staying nearer to the Lake Maggorie area.

Skiing

This beautiful lake region of Italy is not the best for skiing as you may imagine, despite its scenery, crisp air and near perfect visibilty and mountains capped in winter snow. It does however have Skiing opportunities at local resorts for a day out.

There is a small ski area on Mt. Lema , not more than 10 km from Lugano, but you have to be lucky to have enough snow for skiing. In Ticino, the local Swiss Canton, the best places to ski are probably either San Bernardino (south of the pass of the same name) or Airolo (south of Gotthard pass). Both are reachable in about 1 hour by car across the Swiss border.

There are direct trains to Airolo as well from Lugano and hence from Italian Stations. To S. Bernardino there is only a bus connection. For more snow try Andermatt (on the north side of Gotthard pass) which has normally good snow conditions and a good choice of runs.

The closest major ski resorts are St. Moritz and Madesimo toward the Splugen Pass which is approx. 100K

We are ensconced in Primo de Lago and it's a great apartment. Furnished throughout with everything we need. We are extremely comfortable.

Your company and staff get top marks except for the big glitch in the wrong combination to access the apartment. I'm sure that future guests will be notified of the change.
We're loving the lakes and surrounding area.

We enjoyed our stay at Primo del Lago as well as Gaeta Sogno Infinito. Staff was very helpful, esp. the emails on directions to both properties which made them very easy to find (except we did not know whether to drive north or south from Menaggio to reach Sogno Infinito at first, so that could be spelled out a little better in the directions. Overall, we are very happy with our experience with Happy Holiday Homes and hopefully will use you again in the future!

Both my travel partner and I really enjoyed staying at Primo del Lago on Lake Como. It was well situated and accessible to Varenna's amenities especially since we did not have a vehicle. I would definitely book with Lake Como Homes again.

When we arrived at the apartment we were blown away, it was absolutely gorgeous, so modern! I especially loved the bathroom! We couldnt wait to see the view in the morning! Next morning when i woke up the first thing I did was run to the window to see the view, and oh my god, it took my breath away, it was out of this world! (I have attached photo - view from our bedroom, also attached a photo of the view of Bellagio from the apartment). We could easily live there!
Basically, we had the most amazing week! I have never been anywhere so beautiful, and the Primo del Lago and gorgeous and really helped make our holiday! We could not have stayed anywhere nicer and I would defiantly go back to Lake Como and Primo del Lago, I would recommend it to anyone! Totally stunning!

Making a Booking

To make a confirmed booking, you will be asked to fill in our online booking form and pay a 30% deposit by wire transfer or credit card. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival.
